Pros: the location was execellent. We only stayed in Queenstown for 1 night, and this hotel is walking distance to Skyline and the many restaurants close by. They have parking on site tho spots are very close.
Cons: Upon arrival, we learned that due to maintenance issues the room we originally booked is not available. The lady at reception said they took the liberty and moved us to another hotel a few kms away, and claimed that they have sent a message to me on agoda.
I received a total of 7 very long messages from this hotel after i booked, and the last one started with "Your booking is confirmed".
We were exhausted after a full day of driving and no alternative was offered until we pushed and asked if they have another room available and just refund us the difference. The manager was able to do that in the end, but what i don't understand is why this is optio not offered in the first place. Being a "luxury" hotel meaning the staff should be trained to handle such situations and give travelers options instead of oh i can't find your booking (which caused a big scare), and oh wait it's because we moved you. Also if you really tried to reach me, you would've call me, not send me 7 irrelevant long messages and bury this information in a short paragraph in one of them, with no options to modify my reservation or cancel my reservation. Overall I didn't find the service professional.
The hotel is structured like an old house, and it felt like one. When i was taking a shower early in the morning (around 7am) suddenly my hot water started to wane out, and it felt like oh my brother next room woke up and is taking a shower and we're fighting for water. We stayed at about 8 motels across south island each for half the price of this and never experienced this issue.
Overall I would not come back to the hotel. The room is nice and decor is cute but does not out weight the...
Read moreLoved staying in this little private hotel, almost like a wee little home away from home. Very cozy and sweet little place.
The photos don't do justice to the lovely place it is. We stayed here for our honeymoon for the first two nights and it was lovely staying.
The rooms are quite cozy and not too big like a big hotel would have, but they are comfortable like living in your own home. Also, the bathroom is quite nice. Since we got ourselves a deal/package we got the opportunity to get a beautiful set of sweets and handmade chocolates on arrival and were greeted by this really friendly, and amazing hostess Camille. She provided us with the most beautiful and amazing customer service we've had in years and haven't seen in pretty much all of New Zealand.
There's a sweet, tea and snacks station here as well in the lounge, and it's so convenient to you know just get up and make yourselves a cup of tea or have juice/soda.
There's a beautiful jacuzzi outside which is available between 8-10 pm and you can soak under the stars! It's just a beautiful concept as well and for free!
There's happy hour between 5-6 and you can have wine, and nibbles etc during this time and it's amazing. ABSOLUTELY LOVED the customer service! And Cam we'll...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay. Barbara deserves a special mention as she was delightful always and always strived to assist when she could, whether it was laying the fire a little earlier, finding us robes for the spa, etc. Areas for improvement would be ensuring every room has its own set of robes as we had to wait 2 days for a set to become available to us, and having someone on site until 10pm or so rather than fleeing out the door at 6pm. A couple of the staff (not Barbara) were a bit short/snappy when asked for hot milk in the morning or if a guest wanted to add wood to the fire. Another set of guests locked their key in the room and it was quite the process to contact someone after hours to help them - many phone calls made until finally a call was picked up. Breakfast was ok but some fresh options (fruit platter?) or hot options would improve the offering. We would stay again as we enjoyed the lounge, the view from our room, the fire and the smaller size of the hotel. Would not call it 5 stars...
