Between 3:30 and 6:00 PM on weekdays, the gym sees a noticeable influx of younger members, largely due to its close proximity to Rangitoto College. While the overall percentage of younger members across the whole week might not be high, during this window the impact is extremely noticeable. The prevalence of mobile phone use during workouts and groups gathering around equipment for extended periods significantly reduces training efficiency. Machines are often occupied for long stretches without being used, making it difficult for others to maintain momentum in their sessions.
I understand that mobile phones are part of modern life and cannot be banned outright, but when the majority of members during these hours are younger, these habits become more pronounced. A more proactive staff presence on the floor during peak times, ensuring equipment is available and members are actively training rather than socialising in workout areas, would make a substantial difference.
The bag storage area also frequently reaches capacity during busy periods, leading to bags being left on the floor. This not only makes it harder to access your belongings but can also cause congestion and create a tripping hazard. Expanding or better organising this space would improve flow and safety for all members.
These issues are real and objectively observable, and I trust they will be addressed constructively rather than written off with corporate jargon or hollow assurances. For my training style and expectations, I would prefer to invest in a facility with fewer members and a more focused, well-managed...
Read moreAs someone who has been a gym rat for over 15 years, here’s my take on this gym:
Pros: ✅ Very affordable pricing if sign up for 12 months ✅ Good music ✅ A few squat racks available
Cons: ❌ All equipment is AllFit-branded, and a lot of them have odd designs: The bar holders on the squat rack move when you try to center the bar, making it difficult to position correctly. The thigh pad on the lat pulldown machine is extremely wide and not well padded, causing it to hit your hip bones every time you pull up. It’s easy to jam your fingers or hit the dumbbell rack when putting dumbbells back. Although the gym only opened in 2024, many pieces of equipment already show significant wear and tear, especially the hand grips.
😐 The gym floor is mostly occupied by teenagers.
I was really excited to try this gym after reading all the reviews, but it ended up being a...
