The Tokyo (aparthotel complex) — Local services in City Centre

The apartment Unit 911, is a disaster. The apartment is not worth the money! We had the following negative experiences: The apartment smells terribly of cigarette smoke The bed linen also stinks, the manager did not reply to our request to change it. The apartment is not clean, we found a condom in the room! The reception staff are useless. They are a bunch of lazy people. They don't help, are very unfriendly and condescending! At night the bed vibrates from the bass of the surrounding clubs (even during the week on Monday) The doors of the other apartments are slammed at all times of the day and night so that even we with deep sleep wake up every 10 minutes. There is no possibility to deposit luggage. There is a washing machine but no possibility to hang up the washed clothes. The hairdryer is available but has the wrong plug so that it cannot be plugged in anywhere. The manager is only out for profit without basic service. My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. Despite multiple attempts to inform them of my delayed arrival, I received no response. Upon check-in, my balcony door wouldn’t lock, posing a security risk. The front desk dismissed my concerns, even though the neighboring room had direct access to mine.

The room was also unclean—I found roaches and used condom packaging—and it was not the one I originally booked. The manager, Phillip, was rude and defensive but eventually moved us to a smaller, cleaner room. However, the shower had a strong mildew odor that housekeeping couldn’t resolve.

The hotel refused to refund my unused night and mishandled my late checkout request, causing me to wait three hours unnecessarily. Miscommunication, poor customer service, and a lack of accountability defined my stay. I would not recommend this...

Nice place and ticks a lot of boxes. BUT, and this is a huge BUT because what's the use when you can't really enjoy the facilities meant for you without securities reminding you you can't be here after 9 PM like student accomodation, you can't have morethan 2 friends, or beverage. There's a braai area at the rooftop but you cannot drink there, nor smoke there. You can't even bring your own plate of food w/o being told you're in bridge of your contract. I mean you're already PAYING A LOT (12.5K pm on average) to be getting such treatment, like a student.
