We visited Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar last week for some drinks and food. Upon arrival, we were given a table near the window overlooking the street with passers by which we were delighted with.
It, however, became apparent shortly after that the staff were either overwhelmed or require some serious hospitality training. The service was awfully slow with multiple issues including – no staff coming to the table to offer a menu and first round of drinks, when drinks were ordered, they weren’t placed at the bar so never turned up, including no bottled water.
We ended up walking to the bar at which point the barman prepared our drinks which we took back to the table ourselves. When the waiter realised this, he then placed the order so a duplicate round of drinks turned up. It took ages to get the attention of someone in order for us to place a food order.
Once we placed the food order the wait time was horrendous. It took so long that we nearly left. Once the food finally did turn up, it was very disappointing – the table was so small that we had to put drinks on the floor as the table wasn’t cleared. I had the Chicken Paitan Ramen which had no chicken in it, I found a small piece of meat which looked like a bacon strip / cutting. The food quality was just not up to scratch.
When the bill arrived and I questioned the food, the waiter had nothing to say. When I asked him why it is that he has nothing to say about my comments, he said he will pass the feedback on to the kitchen. We paid the bill in full with no service as there was none. This place needs new management or new staff as it is awful in every way – service, vibe and also...
Read moreHighly disappointed that this unique and cosy place with the best cocktails I've ever had, would treat customers so poorly. The management is as moody as it's ambiance.
I had corresponded with the rooftop bar in the week, informing them that I would be bringing a large group there for my birthday (roughly 15 people), to which they said they would be eager to fascilitate. Arriving early on friday, to secure seating as management advised, we were swiftly scolded when we pulled additional chairs up to the tables. Which is reasonable, and we were happy to sit scattered as that was what I expected. I go up to the bar counter to order drinks (as I had seen others do) which would make paying in a large group more practical, to which the barman refused, admitting that they want the 12% service fee that comes with a large group. We order cocktails through the waitress, then another round; everyone loves this new spot I introduced to them. Time passes, to which the manager (I assume) pulled me aside, mid conversation, to speak to me. She said, with visible distaste, that no one had ordered drinks in the past hour and we either need to order more or leave as they need to serve more people outside. The tense manner in which she approached me was lacking the professionalism and the friendliness one expects from those in hospitality. This led to the evening ending on a sour note and I can guarantee they have lost out on 15 new customers from returning again. Had the manager addressed the situation in a more hospitable manner I would not have the misfortune of writing a...
Read moreWalked up to the entrance. Pretty standard. Non busy night. Asked to go up to the rooftop.
Door attendant seemed flustered as if he had a standard line to use on people walking up saying it’s busy upstairs and he needs to wait for people to come out and needs to check if a space opens up (note: this place was glaringly not busy & we were well dressed after just coming from fine dining and just 2 people ).
Time lapse fast forward - around about 10+ people walk out in different groups so We ask - is now ok as people have exited? Once again Told no - so we asked.. what is your checking processing cos he was obviously not checking anything just standing there. He says again.. I need to check. (Note: still standing with no communication or effort to check, more like an entitled doorman with delusions of grandeur of “I determine who enters”) If u going to offer a process, at least pretend to follow the process mate. Because he just ended up looking false to an obviously aware crowd. So we did the polite thing to endure his awkward stance and asked again.. how are you checking as you haven’t done anything. He said he need to wait…
We appreciate process and capacity but this venue just seems like it’s a space that likes to create hype and pomp.
Checked google and the live status even said “less busy than usual”
Welcome to another establishment that disappoints on failed protocols (Or should I say .. fake...
