Edifício mais alto da África do Sul e também do continente africano. É conhecido também como Top of África. Apesar de ser um excelente ponto turistico o lugar é praticamente abandonado. Não há nada além pagar e subir, mas a vista da cidade toda compensa. Custa 60 rands para subir. MUITO IMPORTANTE salientar que a região do Carlton Centre é PERIGOSISSIMA! Optei por ir de metrô até a Park Station e caminhar, mas precisei desistir. Muita gente pelas ruas, muita gente mal encarada, drogas e tudo mais. No meio do caminho comecei a me sentir inseguro e não conseguia chamar uber pois eles não queriam ir até o local (mesmo sendo 15hs com sol). Entrei em uma loja para comprar água e o dono me proibiu de voltar caminhando. Disse que turistas são assaltados todos os dias a qualquer hora e situação. Quando cheguei no Carlton os seguranças do local também me questionaram o que eu (turista) fazia lá e me orientam a pegar um uber correndo para casa. É uma pena que tenha esse problema de segurança em Joburg. Mas a visita acabou valendo. Você consegue ver todos os ângulos dos arredores e uma série de pontos de interesse.

4 stars for the views 1 star for the safety aspect. EVERYONE tells you that you are not safe in Carlton Centre. It's sad because you want to enjoy the views without worrying. We used the red city bus. Their Marshall was great very accommodating and stayed with the group the entire time. I would definitely recommend using the red bus to reach this destination.

War für uns eine der sonderbarsten Aussichtsplattformen auf der wir je waren. Der Eingang liegt gut versteckt in einem Einkaufszentrum. Das ganze Gebäude ist in einem katastrophalen Zustand mit angeknacksten Scheiben und teilweise fehlender Deckenbekleidung. Im ehemaligen 5 Sterne Luxuskomplex ist schon vor Jahrzehnten die Uhr stehen geblieben (das dazugehörige Hotel hat in den 90ern geschlossen). Entsprechend gibt es auch wenig Touristen und wir waren alleine hier. Die Sicht ist aber absolut fantastisch und wer Städte gerne von oben sieht muss hier rauf! Man hat einen 360-Grad-Blick. Eintritt sind günstige 50 Cent, die aber nur in Bar gezahlt werden können. Wir wurden die ganze Zeit vom roten Buspersonal (HopOn/HopOff) begleitet, da die Gegend offenbar nicht so sicher ist. Wertsachen lieber im Hotel lassen.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to experience it because even though their Google maps page says they are open, they aren’t. We drove all the way there only to be greeted by an A4 page stating that they will be closed for the couple of weeks of hard lock down introduced in Apr 2020 (no follow up or any further...
