I consider this more of a local spot than international tourist location. It is beautiful and well maintained. Also, the prayer / meditation area under the statue gives a different feel and experience compared to many temples I've been to. This is one of my go to spots for relaxing alone or showing visitors a piece of real Korea. If you are planning to visit Seoul, it is worth taking the train ride to Suwon station and checking...

Trekked a hilly road when I was at Suwon to see this 2 storeys tall golden giant Buddha. Its right hand forms the Jnana Mudra (meaning teaching), and its left hand forms the Vitarka Mudra (meaning intellectual argument/discussion). Devotees approach the statue from the bottom, through a small quiet shaded courtyard with pretty paper lanterns before reaching a small entrance to the temple at the base...
