Hwaseong Haenggung, also known as 화성행궁, is a historical palace located in Suwon, South Korea, known for its cultural significance and architectural beauty. Constructed in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo, it served as a temporary palace during his visits to his father's tomb.

The palace complex impresses visitors with its meticulous design, featuring intricate wooden structures, vibrant paintwork, and picturesque gardens. The blend of traditional Korean architecture and strategic military elements, such as sturdy walls and gates, reflects the dual purpose of Hwaseong Haenggung.

Exploring the various halls and pavilions, visitors gain insights into the Joseon Dynasty's royal life and governance. The throne hall, in particular, showcases the rich cultural heritage of Korea, with its ornate decorations and symbolic significance.

The palace also hosts cultural events and performances, providing a dynamic experience for visitors. The surrounding Suwon Fortress adds to the historical charm, offering panoramic views of the city.

In summary, Hwaseong Haenggung stands as a captivating testament to Korea's royal history, offering a delightful blend of architectural brilliance, cultural richness, and a glimpse into the past. A visit to this historic site promises a rewarding journey through the splendors of...

Rather interesting place. It is bit different than your yousual palace in terms of display. For 1500 won you have access to the palace for 3500 to neighbouring museums as well. Palace itself does not have many exhibits, yet draws people in with its architectural design, I think. Plus it offers life exibition of traditional Korean martial arts. Not sure if it is every day or I'm the afternoons as well, could not find any additional information. I went there on Thursday just before 11 am. Maybe I was just lucky. The performance lasted about 20 minutes. When you finish the tour in the Palace there is golden Buddha statue on the side of the mountain and small shrine at the top of the mountain behind the palace. If you face the entrance to the palace the way up the mountain will be on your left. Be prepared it is free but exhausting especially in hot weather. There is stop for refreshments and toilets roughly half way through, though. Whole climb takes about 20 minutes but sights are...

Hwaseong Haenggung is an impressive historical site that offers a glimpse into Korea's rich royal heritage. The complex is quite huge, featuring numerous palaces and structures that reflect traditional Korean architecture. However, it's worth noting that many of these buildings have been rebuilt recently, which can give the site a somewhat modern feel despite its historical significance. Visitors should be prepared to walk a lot as the area is expansive, and exploring all the nooks and crannies can be quite a trek. The well-maintained paths and beautiful landscapes make the walking experience enjoyable, but comfortable shoes are a must! Overall, Hwaseong Haenggung is a fascinating destination for history buffs and anyone interested in experiencing the grandeur of...
