What a great hotel,||Our flight was late so we got to the hotel and 10:30pm the Receptionist was very lovely and helped us understand everything. As we got to the hotel late after dinner had been they plated up food from Riu Garoe and wrapped it so we could have it as we arrived. Great idea we were hungry so was nice to have food, the food was bread and butter , lots of fruit, plate of vegetables and selection of cheese ham and turkey. We also got a complimentary water and wine.||We opted for half board for food at Riu Garoe- the walk is around 15 minutes probably not ideal for elders as on the way back there is a Hill, But we are quite active so we didn’t mind. ||The Food was perfect, many options includes gluten free bread and milk alternatives as well as loads of food.||Each night they had a different special on which was really nice to see. They dinner style is buffet so help yourselves to as many plates you want. We found this really good as we didn’t buy any lunch in between as we were full from breakfast.||The Breakfast Food consisted of small pastries, lots of different styles of eggs, pancakes, churros, beans, sausages, bacon, fruit, bread, yogurt and cereal and granola. Very varied choice would be suitable for picky people/children.||For dinner there was pizza (margarita every night and 2 other different ones;different each night), |various pastas like bolognaise, carbonara etc, french fries, potatos, beef, beans, carrots. A lot of sauce to choose from And they have these station where the ‘special meat of the night’ and ‘special fish’ so one night they cooked steak and pork and you had to say to the guy 1 steak etc please and you come back in 3 minutes to it freshly cooked, this was really good and we had turkey one night and it was the best turkey ever. Me and my boyfriend thought about it for the rest of the trip. And every night they have this big cut of meat and you just help yourself. ||As for dessert, desserts every night changed there was about 8 different cakes or so to choose from, and always had ice cream to offer. They had tiramisu one night as pictured and was lovely.||So yea would say broad range of selection and was a fabulous hotel. Only thing is you have to pay for drinks at the restaurant nt, where as breakfast was all you can drink juices/ bite chocolate coffee etc. But at dinner a waiter comes and takes your order of drinks. Every night we just got a big bottle of water for about €3 so just beware of that but only €3 it’s not too bad.||The Ambassador hotel itself is very lovely and spacious . We had a room facing the sea and watched the sunset every night on the balconey. The balcony had a dryer which is ideal i going swimming or staying for a long time. The room itself was great, massive wardrobes and compartments for stuff . We did have 2 single beds next to each other - which we actually preferred as we had our own space so we weren’t kicking eachother throughly the night 🤣. Beds did moved slightly but you just got to be careful and it wasn’t a problem for us.||We had a kitchenette so could cook if you wanted to, We found the kitchen very helpful as there was a funnel so we could refill our bottles of water each day. The hair dryer is very good- powerful and very hot -this is something i’m always scared about when going to a hotel so always bring my own just incase. Fridge could go very cold so our water was kept cold.||The pool was great, a lot of sun loungers by it and also additional upstairs on the roof, They had a sauna which after a few days of walking we needed it- it got very hot and was good for us. The Mercadona is located a 10 minute walk uphill and is surprisingly large.|Overall my experience at Apartmentos Ambassador was amazing could not complain one bit, My partner and I actually changed our flights and are going south for some more days cause of how much we like it here. We honestly could not fault Ambassador has everything you could possibly need we would...
Read moreJust home from our trip away to Tenerife which included a week at Ambassador Apartments. We decided to go with it due to the positive reviews and also fair price.
Things were mostly positive, but the biggest disappointment for us was how uncomfortable and poor quality the mattress was. I know mattresses can be subjective, but I don’t see how anyone can sleep comfortably here. It’s so firm, we both woke up multiple times in the night. And probably got 4-5 max sleep per night. We resorted to using cushions from the outside seating area to try and help soften beneath us!
As I started with a negative, I may as well mention the other small bits…. The drinking cups had coffee stains on them, cupboards were dirty inside and the fridge didn’t get anything cold despite turning up to full (which if I was bothered enough about, I’m sure reception would have sorted for us). Also probably made worse by lack of sleep, due to hard floors, the people above us could be heard scraping their chairs every time they stood up, long into the evening and sometimes early hours of the morning. Maybe some small pieces of rubber/plastic on the bottom of the chairs could reduce the disturbance from this? Or maybe people could think of others and try and reduce the noise after a certain time? It was also a problem for us as we had a few hikes planned with an early start and wanted and early night.
There were many positives about our stay here. The ladies were friendly in reception, the room was nice (apart from the bed). The pool area was lovely and peaceful and really well maintained. There is even a little library with some very comfortable sofas inside and plenty of books to choose from in different languages. We liked the ceiling fans in the rooms which helped with keeping cool through the night.
As other reviews have mentioned, the apartments are a fair distance from the main areas in Puerto De La Cruz. We enjoy walking and walked there and back most days. There are some steep roads and steps between the two. Walking back in the evening is definitely a good way to make you feel better after consuming a large amount of food and drink in town. We did get a taxi back on a couple of occasions as we had a fairly active holiday and our legs were tired. It costs around 5-6 euros which was cheap.
The supermarket is also within really close walking distance which is very useful if needed.
We would love to return one day, but couldn’t bear another night on that bed. I’m not sure if all beds here are the same there or not? We tried to mention it when checking out, but the nice lady behind the desk didn’t understand what we were talking about due to translation. Also we would have to request an upstairs room due to noisy...
Read moreUpon arriving, we were greeted with a friendly face and compliments bottle of red wine (which was much needed after our flight delay!).||The apartments are very visually appealing.||Staff are very friendly, receptionist and maid staff included. Pool area quiet, nice and clean and always a sun lounger available.||Rooms clean and well maintained equipped with a fridge, ice box, oven, toaster and other amenities. ||Air-conditioning in the rooms included 2 fans with 3 settings.|| My only complaint||Reception informed us that the room above us had complained about us as we had left the fan on high during the night in the bedroom. The apartments took responsibility as saying it's their fault for having fans installed, however, if we could please consider the people above which was fine but it was very hot and humid, both me and my partner were also sunburnt so we did struggle with the fan on medium-low. This left a slightly bitter taste as we had not done anything wrong and felt like we had. Nevertheless, this was shortly overlooked by the rest of the experience! So, if you are a light sleeper, perhaps check and request a ground floor room. ||The walk to the beach is around 20-40 minutes depending on which beach you choose to go to. However, there is a bus stop a 10 min walk away that will take you straight into Puerto De La Cruz (we paid €2,90). The walk back up to the apartment is very challenging as it is a steep incline so I would recommend the bus.||Plentiful bars and restaurants edging into Puerto De La Cruz with the nearest bar we found to be roughly a 5-7 min walk.||Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Thank you...
