Awesome food and value for money, but ended in a not so pleasant way.
I had had lunch the day before with two other friends, then I returned the next day for another meal and some wine.
I met 5 pilgrims along the way and told them that I like the venue and it was the best on the street, so they could join me. They did join me a little later after I finished eating.
I understood that sitting outside is for people having full meals only. If people only wanted to drink, the inside was the option. Fair enough.
Grumpy head waiter/owner (don’t know) passed by and saw me and the other 5 people I invited to come to the restaurant sitting together and just told us off without explaining further. I brought another 5 people in the restaurant, and some of them would have full meals, where others just came by for one drink and say good bye after the Camino.
I went inside to found out that the waiter didn’t want more than 4 people per table and that’s why he told us off. He threw lots of attitude whilst talking, getting very defensive and finished saying “this is not THAT type of place”. I started paying the bill to another staff (very nice lady) and told her “the food was awesome, thank you”... The head waiter thought I was talking bad stuff about him and continued “if you have something to say, you say it to me”... attitude His colleague turned to him and said that I was only saying good things... he settled!
There were lots of different ways to do that instead of coming with a bad attitude after I had some a pleasant time there right before.
Other staff was very friendly and food was awesome.
My review is in English but I mostly spoke Spanish with them, to avoid...
Read moreDisappointed with the meal and service I had here. I ordered a veggie burger (picture attached) that was completely burnt. When I told the owner about it he tried to say that’s how it was supposed to look.
Thankfully he took the burger but didn’t attempt to remake it. I just had to get something else. I got spinach croquets instead.
There was no Spanish omelet, so he brought out a different kind. I did not care for this other version.
Dessert was good, but I can’t recommend this place - especially after trekking 280 km from Porto to Santiago on the Camino.
It felt like the owner was avoiding our table the entire time, we sat down before several tables but were the last to order, when we would try and call him over we would get ignored, it was just overall a bad experience.
3/13 Update:
Entonces no me queda más nada que decir, buen camino!” just shows how bad their service was. Being told that I need to “walk 20 more paths to learn empathy” is quite ironic.
Rather than taking the feedback and trying to do better for future customers, this owner insults people.
Just don’t come here, there are plenty of other options around....
Read moreAs pilgrims finishing the Camino, we were excited to run into two friends near the pilgrim certificate office. We hadn’t been able to keep in touch during the walk, so it was a joyful reunion. They were already eating at this restaurant, sitting at a small table with four chairs. We joined them, happy to catch up and hoping to order a drink.
However, the waiter came over and, with a very unfriendly attitude, told us that we must order food — drinks alone were not allowed. Taken aback, we decided not to order anything and simply chat with our friends instead. Shortly after, another staff member came over, even more aggressively, and told us we couldn’t sit if we weren’t ordering. I explained we were with our friends who were already dining, but the response was: “Then you should have asked us before sitting down!”
There were plenty of empty tables and chairs at the time — it wasn’t busy or crowded. The tone and attitude of the staff were surprisingly hostile and made us feel extremely unwelcome. This kind of treatment is especially disappointing at what should be a joyful and meaningful end to the Camino.
We respect that restaurants have policies, but there is no excuse for being rude or unkind — especially toward pilgrims who are simply sharing a happy moment with friends. I do not recommend this place for anyone expecting basic courtesy or...
