I do appreciate their craftsmanship but going into the store has left a bitter taste in our mouth.

I went in with a friend, her family has lived in Canada for at least 3 generations, but the sales person kept digging on “where are you actually from” and said she doesn’t look like “a real Canadian”. ?!

He took time to explain to us the history and craftsmanship, which we appreciated. And I was wearing a simple piece of jewellery gifted my family and the salesman pointed at my wrist and said it is not as nice as their piece.

His English was difficult to understand, and when I asked follow up question, he got aggressive said “you are not listening to me, you do not listen”.

The sales person is not the kind looking gentleman on most of the google review picture, instead it was a guy looks like in his 50-60s. Maybe it was the wrong time and wrong person for us to go into the store, but we will not be...

My english boyfriend fell in love with Toledo so we wanted to buy a nice thing from there to remember our first tryp there forever. We bought in this shop a Tizona sword and the shop keeper told us that he offered the service of sending it to UK with all peace of mind and we were gonna received it in 4 days. So we paid the sword, the shipping and an insurance. The sword arrived nearly 2 months later and after chasing them continuosly. It arrived also in bad condition, scratched and wanky. They offered to send us another one but we had to pay the shipping back that was gonna be expensive. The owner even said that we caused the damage on the sword calling as liars. Highly recommended for damascene jewelry. There's a wide range of sophistication and price, but, as the folks there will tell you, there are some very high quality pieces available for lower prices. In fact, they may talk your ears off telling you about how the jewelry is made, how each level of quality is different, how the youngest metalsmith--Chico--is 70 years old, how little of this artisan craft is left in Toledo or anywhere. It's worth it to encounter passion and commitment, and it will make the bracelet or pendant you will definitely buy into more than just another piece of jewelry.
