The place was too loud. Worst was the SERVICE. At first I felt it might be too full in the restaurant that I decided to order take away. After I got the food, I realized they don’t provide any fork or spoon for me to eat with. I checked the restaurant and found out a table in the inner room that was just open. So I put the food on the seat and went to the counter again to get a drink. When I returned to the table, a waiter stopped me and said “to wait outside” because they need to clean the table. He just kept saying outside. I asked, after it’s cleaned, can I take a seat here? He said yes. But after at least 5 mins of standing at the entrance, nobody came to tell me the table was ready. And then a bunch of new customers came and directly walked into the inner room and sat down. I asked again and the waiter said the inner room is for party of two people and more. What the f ?!?! You could’ve told me the first time and I could’ve find a seat somewhere else instead of waiting there HOLDING THE DRINK looking like a fool! It was a HORRIBLE experience. The food was good, tho, which was the...
Read moreThe food wasn't bad, not the best, but acceptable and the portions were the right size for two people. The place was really hot, despite an air conditioner in the main room/entrance and crowded; nobody came to ask as what we wanted, but luckily another couple waiting their turn explained a bit of how it works. Here and now begins what has completely destroyed the rating of the "tavern": the poor couple of customers, tired after waiting for so long, tried to go and sit at the (now free) table but the maiter, a young arrogant guy, with very harsh attitude imposed them to exit the room and wait for him to change the towel. I thought it was something the couple did or say but talking with them we understood they were very polite and gentle people. Then it was our turn and again the young arrogant showed us is bad education... Now... Coming from a country that has tourism dating back thousand of years, I've learnt that tourism is a service, is making people happy, not upset. If this is one of the best in Toledo... Politeness is always key in this...
Read moreWe visited Toledo for the day and wanted to eat like a local and we hit the Jackpot with Taberna Skala. I love these earthy traditional, no thrills places to eat. Simply delicious food served by people who want you to eat their food. We tried the local port stew called Carcamusas with some potatoes and both were fantastic, especially with the bread to mop up the sauce. Also on the side we had morcilla, croquets and fried meat wrapped in ham and cheese. All three were super tasty, especially the morcilla. It was a mix of locals and tourists and had a real buzz about the place and I just wish the UK had these types of places. Unfortunately I live in a place where people flock to the ultra processed chain crappy restaurants or get a person with a filthy disgusting looking deliveroo bag on their back that delivers them garbage to eat. Anyway back on topic, Taberna Skala was a wonderful place to spend an hour or so and I will...
