Mercat Municipal del Cabanyal — Local services in Valencia

The Valencia Mercat was only about 8 min from where we stayed in El Cabanyal, a charming & walkable seaside community in the city of Valencia. All the product and meats are locally sourced & the cured meats, olive oils, preserved olives, anchovies, bacalao are beautifully displayed. The vendors are amazingly friendly & try their best to help you with questions. The people throughout Valencia were immensely kind and helpful to us. The Mercat is an excellent place to get Spanish cooking equipment, such as the gas paella stoves & stand at unbelievably low prices. I checked Amazon for comparison & their prices are Hundreds! If dollars more. Also available is many types of seafood & fish for dishes & paella. I never have seen so many different varieties of shrimp, crayfish, langosteens/lobsters. Just go early as the market closes...

If you are looking for a grocery store, this isn’t it, but if you are looking for a market, this is exactly what you want! Everything is fresh and leaves nothing to be desired!

Customer service at nearly every shop within the market is excellent! As someone who is not fluent in Spanish, I found it still very easy to communicate with nearly everybody in there. This market is probably a quarter the size of Mércate Central but I love the vibe! Our first visit and we had already made friends with the merchants. You won’t find too many tourists here. The vegetables are fresh and well organized. I feel like they only have the best here. Ordered my turkey here for Thanksgiving! It’s always busy!
