I take my children as often as possible to this park and I was actually the first member of the public in the park when it opened in 2018.
It gets four stars in comparison to all the other parks in Valencia- but if you compare it to parks in other places, it would at most get two or three stars because of the problem with dogs.
It is a great park and will get better when they open all the planned installations. Great for a walk. Great to play on grass (that there is hardly any of in Valencia/Spain). Great to teach kids to ride bikes, play football, play with remote control cars, great for a picnic (if you don’t get hassled by dogs). Great on a hot day in the summer and great for kids birthday parties.
However, the staff seem not to care about people allowing their dogs off the lead in places where dogs should 100% not be off a lead. Nor have I ever seen the staff do anything about the amount of dog fouling the owners allow them to do. Which is a big shame.
The dog walkers seem to rarely use the fenced off section of the park that is there specifically for them. Instead they congregate on the top grass part of the park, and it is often dangerous at times of the day as most of the people with dogs don’t seem to know how to control them properly and allow them to run wild. I’ve been a dog owner since the 1970s; so I have some experience.
The owners also don’t clean up after themselves and try to intimidate non dog walkers who use this part of the park. Something needs done about it- as either children will get ill because of the dogs fouling or will be injured by out of control dogs.
Over the years I have had numerous incidents where I have had to protect my children from untrained animals behaving aggressively towards them. Not even an apology from any of the owners. As well as the staff not caring, the local police also do very little about this. They have finally done something about the people hanging about in the toilets in the Calle Filipinas side of the park though.
The children’s park is terrible for the amount of money they invested into it. There are very few things for them to play on and they are now in poor condition.
The climbing walls are good for what they are, but I don’t think putting stones at the bottom instead of a rubber coated floor is a very sensible idea.
Table tennis tables are great, as is the section with sand.
The fountains are great. The events they do in the park for kids are great.
More work required though Valencia- with the attitudes of dog owning members of the public more...
