Was a little disappointed that you couldn't go in and see the observatory. Besides this, the trees in the area are so big that they block the view. The trip up is not worth it.

Amazing 360 views of Stockholm. The observatory itself is very cute and there is a little cafe. The steps up make for a good little walk.

Observatoriet, eller Stockholms gamla observatorium, är ett tidigare observatorium och tidigare vetenskapshistoriskt museum, som ligger högst upp på Observatoriekullen i Vasastaden i Stockholm.

Observatoriemuseet, som varit inrymt i byggnaden, har bland annat haft en världsunik temperaturslinga som visar medeltemperaturen under årets varmaste (juli) och kallaste (februari) månad från 1756 fram till idag. Observatoriemuseet stängdes i januari 2014.

Stockholms gamla observatorium har även ett nytt teleskop i det närbelägna Magnethuset, som Stockholms amatörastronomer använder för observationer. Stockholms gamla observatorium var Kungliga Vetenskapsakademiens första observatoriebyggnad. Den användes länge av universitetets naturgeografiska institution. Genom den höga mittkroppen får byggnaden sin karaktär. Byggnadens cirkulära rumsform avtecknar sig i fasadens utbuktning.

Sedan 1 april 2018 är Observatoriet åter i Stockholm stads ägo genom SISAB (Skolfastigheter i Stockholm AB).

In 1931, the new Stockholm Observatory (Swedish: Saltsjöbaden Observatory, 052), nicknamed "Saltis", was inaugurated on the Karlsbaderberget at Saltsjöbaden, near Stockholm, and operated until 2001.

Such an interesting place within a beautiful park. It's fairly easy to walk up to the Observatory (there's a ramp and stairs). Up there you get nice views of the city and some interesting information, such as the Observatory having daily weather measurements since 1756! They take several quantifications every day, three times a day. You can get here for free and you can take your dog, but...
