Eating at a café during lunchtime is always a good choice for couples in terms of budget. This time, we wanna take you to a small café which is popular among students, especially SSE-ers. That’s right, Gast café is located in the quiet central area near SSE. They have a small menu full of delicious food for breakfast and the rest of the day. Despite many recommendations for their famous breakfast, we tried their lunch menu, their pastries, and their drinks. We had Mushroom sandwich (145:-), Semla (50:-), and Apple mint ginger (45:-), respectively.
Semla was so-so with a good combination of almond paste and whipped cream yet a little bit dried and hard cake. Talking about the juice, your fatigue would be cleaned away while drinking it thanks to a lot of fresh mint leaves but that’s all. It was just okay since we couldn’t feel any apple and ginger taste as its name. So, if you really want to have some juice, go for it, otherwise order the other drinks instead.
Apart from regular semla and juice, we wanted to scream “Amazing, good job!” when the main dish was placed on our table. The decoration was perfect with black from a variation of mushrooms, grey from grilled Levain sandwich, and white from the Dijon cream as well as the poached eggs with generous parmesan on top. We didn’t think that the Dijon cream could be tasty like that: some fatty along with the particular taste of Dijon and some sourness from lime (we assumed). Even the mix of fried mushrooms was a bit salty due to soy-sauce marinated (we assumed), all of the ingredients somehow support the taste of each other, which brings this kind of simple dish to a new level of experience. It cannot be denied that this is what you must-try when visiting Gast.
Some small things that lowered our score for their service were the noise and a few fruit flies from the kitchen next to their back areas and some mess of toilet paper on their restroom’s floor.

This is my favourite brunch place in Stockholm because the food is amazing, versatile selection from savoury to sweet and staff are generally friendly. Depending on what day and time you come here, you will either be greeted with a smile and a ”hello” or you will be ushed to hurry up and order so they can call the next one in line forward, which for me is fine!
Come here early during the weekends so you don’t have to sit by the wall that’s next to the kitchen because I’m telling you, it will be so noisy you won’t be able to hear your company. It’s a popular, trendy spot that offers more seats inside, but I prefer to sit closer to the exit so it doesn’t feel too stuffy.
The only issue is, how come you guys are constantly out of the chai? This is my third time coming within a month during different time intervals, either morning or early afternoon. Today I was there at 11 and asked for a chai latte, and it was already out? Help, I’m forced to get the matcha each time because I’m coffee:ed out. I love you guys, though, will try again next...
Read moreOverrated place. Crowd for take away and dine in, super loud atmosphere that you cannot hear your opponent. I loved turmeric latte, very unusual taste, great idea. Ordered pancakes and one of them has been completely burned and yet served, just burned side down. This is not good service. It’s better to bring it later and apologize but make them flawless so customer would forget even that his order came later. Awful decision…. Still cannot believe they served it burned. Was zero opportunity to complain at the place because of the crown and overload. There was no knives btw. At all. I asked personnel to check it and bring new, she answered “sorry, I have to make a coffee” 🥴 Not sure that turmeric coffee will be enough of the reason to...
