Best place of it's kind I have eaten at anywhere in Scandinavia!
There is a lot on the menu to recommend but my favorite is probably the lamb fillet or the fried Kubbe. The meze is great, eggplant sublime. Since I ran into this place I have come back menu times and eaten almost all they offer.
Even better than the food is the guy who runs the place and takes your order. He gives the place a real Middle Easter vibe, by that I mean generous portions of well cooked food served with a smile and high emphasis on hospitality.
For example, yesterday I ordered the crispy chicken and the mix platter. I love my food spicy and in honesty without the spicy sauce and some hummus I just dont really enjoy it. Therefore I always ask for them to give me or send me some. Yesterday they missed that, sent French fries instead of bulgur and did some other minor mistakes. I passed by today and mentioned it to the boss and it turns out it was his day off yesterday. Without checking what/if I had even made an order yesterday he apologized profusely and wouldn't let me leave without compensating me. I wasnt expecting anything or looking for anything, I know how hard it is to run a business and to run a restaurant and mistakes happen.
He would have none of it and I ended up leaving with all the food in the photo below...! Now I have food for days!
Also, here you can find the best kind of olives that are hard to get outside the Middle East, actually even in it. My former father in law would have some shipped from Palestine where his mother still has a few trees left that havent been destroyed by settlers. He would get about a liter per year (from what used to be a big olive farm held in the family for as long as there are records). Anyway, the closest I've had to those are the ones served at Midan.
Thank you guys and...
Read moreMidan Stockholm offers a somewhat refined experience. The restaurant's standout location near Odenplan station makes it easily accessible. The ambiance is pleasant and inviting, creating a serene setting for dining, complemented by subdued music that enhances the overall relaxation.
However, the height of the tables might be slightly bothersome for some guests, though this is offset by the courtesy and attentiveness of the staff. Their use of aprons adds a touch of cleanliness, a positive aspect that contributes to the overall visit.
Concerning the food, the menu is diverse and delicious. There is a variety of options to choose from, but it's worth noting that the prices may be slightly higher compared to the quantity of food served.
As for the shawarma roll, it can be described as a decent attempt, but there's a noticeable lack of some essential components, providing an opportunity for improvement. Enhancing the shawarma's composition could be beneficial in elevating the overall dining experience.
In summary, these elements at Midan Stockholm come together to deliver a generally good experience. Nevertheless, there are aspects that could be refined to improve comfort and enhance the...
Read moreMidan is a syrian restaurant with classical dishes such as shawarma, falafel and much more. The restaurant interior is really nice and there are outdoor seats as well.
There are food options that will please most people. I had the "mix grill" that consisted of several different meats, fried options and their special rice. Unfortunately it did not have any shawarma which I would love to try. The Döner was a bit tasteless while the Adana was great tasting but a bit dry. The chicken was simple with good taste. The falafel was AMAZING and original. As a whole the food was ok-good, but a bit bland unfortunately. A big plus is that the portion size is LARGE. I never leave food and I didn't this time either, but I was close.
I'm not sure if the food this day held their standard quality as this place gets a lot of hype. I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't disappointed either. This place has a lot of potential and I would like to try it again...
