This is a bit of a strange park. On the one hand it is very large, spacious and a great place to just go for a walk or a cycle. On the other hand, it's planned poorly. For example, you can rent ubikes and cycle around the park but only on the designated pathway. If you see an area or somewhere else in the park that you'd like to go that is off the cycle path you can't reach it by cycling to it because it is apparently forbidden to cycle on the blue walking path. If this sounds confusing to read then trust me: it is even more confusing in practice. When we accidentally cycled on the blue path an irrate uncle (who ironically drives a scooter on the blue path all day long... presumably in between runs to the family mart to get his daily beers) and he proceeded to scold us like we were 12 years old. It's not our fault there is a lack of clear instructions and signs.

Most well developed parks have a cycling and a walking path running concurrently. But here the walking path takes you away from the cycling areas the cycling areas take you away from the walking paths. So you have to really choose one and stick to it or you'll get a bit lost and waste time wandering around this strangely maze like park that is more concrete than grass and flowers. When I saw a flower I was shocked that something could actually grow and bloom in such an urban place. It has potential but I don't know if it'll ever reach it.

Oh, and there is a large rotating pink thing in the lake that looks like some sort of adult toy. Everything seems randomly chucked together and then abandoned halfway like a failed...

2024立春，中央公園的煙火樹、黃槐、  黃槿、 含羞草、 火焰木、 醡漿草(黃花醡ㄓㄚˋ漿草)⋯競展歡顏。大葉合歡 的闊長莢果高高掛，隨風碰撞，樹下感受長舌婦的七嘴八舌。 [2024.2.4] 中央公園樹身懸掛了樹牌面板，面板上書樹名、學名、英名及特徵等。中央公園是賞樹觀花超棒的好處所。地夠大(67.34公頃)，樹種(106種喬木)夠多。不同時節、各植株可能展現自身截然不同的風貌。或落葉、或長新芽、或變色、或長出花苞、或爭奇鬥豔開了花、或生出長短圓扁豆莢、或著果(如雀榕)…大自然的奧妙讓人驚喜連連。只因有了樹標，至少我們確知自己看到的是什麼。 有標示植栽至少如下(不含抹茶湖區域): 光蠟樹 (僅標示種名21株) 牛樟 楓香 烏臼 (Chinese tallow tree大戟 科。落葉大喬木，秋葉鮮紅。種子有毒，但可做蠟燭、肥皂。) 青楓 (槭樹) 香楠 (臺灣特有種) 樟樹 (Camphor tree  常綠大喬木 樹皮灰褐，有深縱裂紋。搓揉葉片有樟腦辛香味。) 山櫻花 (Taiwan Cherry 落葉喬木 樹皮茶褐色有光澤。 1~3月開緋紅花。) 金門榕 (Small-laaf 0fig. 常綠小喬木 樹皮有斑點 "葉小枝軟" 氣生根下垂 ) 山黃麻 (India-charcoal  Trema 落葉大喬木 ) 青剛櫟 牛樟 竹柏 (新葉或嫩或硬，有意思) 龍柏 垂榕 紅楠 黃槐 黃槿  (Linden Hibiscus 全年零星開大朵黃花)
