Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, this old-day wet market is a hidden gem that continues to thrive with its charm and tradition. While the market has aged with time, it remains full of life and character. Unlike newer, more commercialized markets, this one focuses on the essentials—dry goods, fresh fish, traditional herbs, and prized delicacies like bird’s nest and dried seafood.

One of the highlights of visiting this market is the warmth of its people. The vendors are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always ready to offer advice on how to cook or store what you buy. Many have been working here for decades and take pride in what they sell. Their friendliness gives the place a strong sense of community and makes every visit feel personal.

The variety of goods available is impressive for a market of its age. From fragrant dried mushrooms to high-quality bird’s nest, everything feels authentic and thoughtfully sourced. It’s not just a shopping trip—it’s a step back in time and a connection to a slower, more mindful way of living.

For those who appreciate tradition, friendly faces, and quality products, this market is well...

I went here specifically looking for dried shrimp/ squid and dried ingredients to bring back to Australia, in big batches for family and friends. I wasn't dissapointed! I found at least 6 stores selling what I wanted and bought from 3 of them. I also found some great Thai fish custard, Hor Mok or otak otak to Singaporeans and Malaysians. It was delish, no big pieces of fish however it was good. Slightly spicier than Malaysia but very tasty! It's a great place to go, lots of food, good atmosphere and a top place to get dried shrimp at better quality and price than Singapore and Malaysia. Unless your in pahang. Pics are of small dried shrimp, big shrimp for som tam, dried stingray is the flower one and the rest is...

Perhaps the oldest "Chinatown" in the World! This Chinatown was established about 240 years ago-- and has had time to "evolve" as Bangkok grew!! The area has 2 markets as well as many shoppes on the "main road" as well as the many adjoining "narrow streets". There are also many "traditional products" as well as souvenirs (at attractive prices) sold-- and the availability, variety of food and food stalls/outlets is, like the number of outlets, simply incredible! The area is also not far from the River--- so its excellent for those who like walking in interesting "urban areas".

I hope that this Review has...

The is one of the oldest market in Bangkok and sitting in the heart of Chinatown. Many ready-made speciality are available for purchase such as rainbow lobster ball, seafood sausage, fermented cabbage and much more. Many of the dishes here have been crafted for decades and you can ensure with the time and experience many dishes here are delicious! Besides food, you can also purchase many goodie for praying at the nearby temple. This market open at 4am and there's not a lot of parking but you can always use the underground trains or simply taxi.
