My girlfriend and I did the 2-day-1-night kayaking trip. Highly recommended! One of the best experiences I've ever had
The river and river guides: The first half of the river is easy enough for beginners, the middle is challenging enough for the experienced, and the last half is good for intermediate kayakers. We ran it at medium-low levels, which gave it a creeky feeling though without as many hazards as I might expect in similar rivers. We felt safe at all times, and the guides correctly assessed our skill levels and whether we should portage or run every given rapid. They gave good lines, good beta, good technique tips, and were all in all cheery, funny, and friendly guys. Good kayakers too!
The homestay: We were really really impressed! The accommodation was as good as our hotel, and was very tastefully decorated. Hot shower and private bathroom too! The food was also excellent: we were served curries, stir fries, grilled chicken, fresh fruit (best mango I have ever had) and sweet sticky rice with organic banana. If you have the opportunity you should DEFINITELY go for an overnight stay.
The staff: Everyone we interacted with was great! Professional, kind, Helpful.
Some recommendations/feedback to the team as a certified advanced Instructor in Norway: invest in kayak float bags, it makes rescuing much much easier! Not that expensive and makes the guides job easier elbow protectors would be nice :) I sprained my elbow on a rock in the middle rapids invest in rescue-PFDs with quick release and cow tails for the guides, good idea to have the option to do life bait rescue and Z-drags if it's ever needed. the PFDs might need an upgrade, some are a bit worn. This might be a liability concern depending on the manufacturers replace -by date, even if they work perfectly fine. some clients might struggle with rolling due to the low offset of the paddles. Maybe invest in one variable offset paddle? This also helps those who are used to...
Read moreGreat day out led by a group of very kind, professional guys who ensured our safety from the get go.
Was about an hour and a half drive out of Chiang Mai city centre with hotel pickup and drop off included. Once our group of 4 got there we were welcomed by all the guys and given a huge lunch before we started - meat and vegetarian options. After that it was helmets and life jackets on and in the boats.
We went during dry season so the water was at its lowest but it still gave our group a great kicking. Plenty of rapids and drops so I couldn’t really imagine how extreme it must be during the rainy season so bear that in mind!
Saw about a dozen elephants, lots of locals swimming in the river and such beautiful views of all the surrounding nature. Wish I’d brought my phone on with me but couldn’t risk it being damaged.
I accidentally fell in at one point after a steep drop and my instructor immediately jumped in after me to make sure I was safe so it was clear to all of us that they didn’t mess around when it came to keeping us all safe even when the water was at its weakest.
After about 2-3 hours of cruising down stream it was over , snacks and drinks waiting for us and a quick shower off before being driven back to our hostel.
Such a fun day and totally worth the money especially considering other companies are offering the exact same activity but for nearly...

We were 4, two adults and two teenagers, at 10am we were picked up at the hotel, then after 1h30 on the road a Thai meal was waiting for us there. 12h it's time to get equipped with life jacket and helmet, after some basic navigation instructions we leave.
The water was level 2, so we all took a 2-seater raft (one instructor + us per boat). We alternated between gentle currents and a few rapids, some easy, others a bit more technical.
The security was at the top, with each quick technique the staff was waiting for us in the water or on the rocks with ropes (by the way I fell in one of them and in the second that followed I had a rope in but hand to get out of the current 🤪). The staff was smiling and welcoming.
We were lucky enough to come across several elephants at the water's edge 🐘
The bonus, we received at the end of the afternoon many photos of the day (almost a hundred!)
In short, I recommend as much for the welcome, security and...
