It was Christmas Day, we’d spent the afternoon at Annie’s round the corner having Christmas dinner which was delicious in a super relaxed atmosphere.
We were then looking for somewhere to carry on the festivities and stumbled upon The Score.
Immediately the owner had our backs up when exclaiming we weren’t allowed to go upstairs until we’d ordered a drink, but fair enough, so we ordered.
We spent the next 2-3 hours drinking and playing a Christmas Day quiz in our party of 3.
In the frivolities, I accidentally knocked a glass off the table, which smashed. I was apologetic to the bar staff and offered to clean it up, they refused and said it was no problem, so I thought the staff were very nice!
Then the owner for no reason then decided to come up to us and asked if we were English, I said no I was German in the hope it would disarm him as I sensed he was looking for an argument.
He mumbled something to me in German and said I wasn’t German and that he could have guessed I was English because, “English people wreck his bar all the time”. I was honestly very offended that not only was he accusing me of wrecking his bar, considering I had made a simple mistake of knocking a glass off the table, but also that he was using the fact I was English as a way to attack me!
He continued to stand by our table saying this and that till eventually I got so annoyed I decided to leave, I moved him out of the way to leave, at which point he pushed me.
I don’t know what warranted such a bigoted response from this man, but it ruined our Christmas. Me and my girlfriend went straight home afterwards.
I would not recommend drinking here, drinks weren’t great, the bar is of poor quality and the owner is a bigot. The bar girls were very friendly and efficient though so feel bad for them but...
Read moreLike everyone else here, it’s just the owner (assuming that’s who it is); the rest of the staff were great.
I had contacted the bar on Facebook before showing up to confirm if they’d be showing the football game I wanted and the F1 race that weekend. Note, we were planning to sit there for a while and have dinner as well. The response I got online seemed super friendly, so I was expecting everything to go well.
But here’s what went down :
Being super condescending when we asked where we could sit - my bad for not knowing what screens would be showing the game :)) HAAAD to take the racist route and ask if we were “Indian” because we asked for one beer bottle (Large) and two glasses—something we (and clearly other people as well, according to the reviews) do. And again, I really don’t have to justify this, but we were going to be there for four hours and get dinner. Didn’t show the game that we wanted 😆 despite asking SEVERAL TIMES and even stopped us from asking the other staff about it. So we ended up leaving after our meal and watched the second half and F1 elsewhere.
Bonus: the pie was terrible. Couldn’t cut into it easily and tasted stale. Beer was beer. But the Con carne was decent though.
Great screens and atmosphere, just wished there was a better...
Read moreThe Score Sportsbar & Restaurant in Chiang Mai is a welcoming spot right in the Old City (25/5-6 Ratchawithini). From the moment we arrived, the service stood out as very friendly and beautiful, making us feel comfortable straight away by the smiling girl. The owner was casually sitting outside at the long wooden bar table, sipping a Coca Cola, which gave the place a relaxed, local vibe.
We ordered a classic Pad Kaprow with chicken and a Coke. The chicken was cooked well and tasted nice, though the rice served with it wasn’t as fresh as expected, which made the dish feel a bit average overall. Still, for a sports bar, the food is decent enough to enjoy alongside a drink.
The real charm of this place lies in its atmosphere for sports lovers. Several TVs on the walls stream live matches, including rugby, football, and more, making it an enjoyable venue for anyone who wants to catch a game with a cold beer. You’ll often find others doing the same—chatting, cheering, and relaxing.
Overall, I’d recommend The Score Sportsbar if you’re looking for a casual, friendly spot in the Old City where you can watch sports in a lively setting. The service makes it stand out, and it’s a good choice if you’re in Chiang Mai and want to mix food, drinks, and live...
