5 stars would be a stretch and 4 stars is more appropriate. I do believe the food was good, but believe that the reputation and countless 5 star reviews pulls this restaurant to a higher rating. Compared to the non Thai restaurants in the area, this place is far better. The reasoning behind a 4 star is listed below in detail to each dish i tasted.
I ordered, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, Dolma, Falafel and mix of breads. (Pida and Bagel)
The Baba Ghanoush, this was one of the better dishes that i tried. You could easily pick up the smoky notes from the eggplants being softened from a wood fire. It had a great texture and the use of spices was appropriately used. Not too much Tahini and the right amount of lemon and Extra Virgin help bring this dish together.
The Hummus was bland and did not have that beautiful nutty and tangy mix you find in Hummus. Almost seem to have more Tahini Sauce than it should have. The ratio was off. It was super creamy, but I was missing the notes of lemon and creaminess of the fresh chick peas. Did not taste any garlic and overall was just missing that traditional Hummus flavor.
Dolma, Yes! The Dolma brought me back to Turkiye! Not as good as Anne's but they were beautifully crafted. Actual white rice and a soft flavorful grape leaf. This dish isn't hard to make, just time consuming, especially to properly soften the leaves. The yogurt was a nice touch and the quantity was great.
The Falafel. These can be difficult to make and do believe they were crafted nicely. Definitely used fresh Herbs and Baking Soda to keep the green interior and a soft set crumble. The flavor was bland and this was disappointing. I actually had to dip into yogurt to help improve taste and added Sumac to my yogurt to help bring lemon notes to the dish with Pul Biber.
The mixed breads. The Pida bread was good, flavor was on point and enjoyed the one side being thicker. This seemed to be made as traditional as possible. The Jerusalem Bagel. This was great as well, a close resemblance to Simit. This was great to dip into the Baba Ghanoush.
In the end, i would recommend and for most the flavors and types of dishes are great. The flavor is bland with a few dishes and wont take much to elevate to the appropriate levels. Having a strong Mediterranean background i feel like these dishes bring back a taste of home but do not represent the Mediterranean to its fullest. I would like to try more dishes but even if the other dishes are exceptional, a 5 star review would be difficult, due to the inconsistency of flavor as a few dishes were bland and the preparation to make all the dishes full of flavor fell short, fixing these things can make for a better more well rounded authentic dish.
The foundation is set to make this place remarkable and bring a truly authentic feel to Chiang Mai, but good help is hard to find and if the help is not as passionate about food as the owner/chef then this will only make for a quality that is inconsistent and subpar to the heart and soul of...

Read moreI’ve visited this restaurant more than a dozen times and have also ordered delivery through Grab just as often. My experience has been consistent enough that I feel comfortable sharing a fair and honest review — especially since some of the negative comments I’ve seen seem more rooted in cultural bias or personal rather than actual dining experiences.
Pros:
I’ve only ordered hummus and falafel here. While I’m not a certified expert of these dishes , I’ve eaten both dishes hundreds of times in various countries because I genuinely love them. In every place I’ve tried them, the recipes were different — as they should be. Each chef adds their own touch, and this restaurant is no exception. Just because it doesn’t taste like what your grandmother made doesn’t mean it’s not hummus or falafel — it’s just a different version.
The portion sizes are fair and satisfying — not too much, not too little.
I really appreciate that they bake their own bread in-house. It adds a handmade, personal feel to the meal. I do wish they offered more variations in bread quality, including perhaps a gluten-free option.
Each time I’ve visited — at different times of the day — I’ve been greeted quickly, handed a menu without delay, and received my food fast. The service flow is solid.
The restaurant doesn’t advertise itself as belonging to any specific country’s cuisine. Some negative reviews seem overly nationalistic or territorial. In today’s global food scene (it’s 2025, after all), fusion and reinterpretation are part of the culinary world. If someone’s bringing your home-country dish to a different part of the world, that should be seen as a compliment — not a threat. Or better yet, open your own spot instead of nitpicking someone else’s.
Cons: On several occasions, special requests were either misunderstood or ignored. This may be due to language differences, but it’s worth noting if you have specific needs.
The restroom and the path to the restroom could use more frequent cleaning or a bit of an upgrade to feel more hygienic and welcoming.
On a recent visit, a new admin or manager was a little over-insistent in pointing out menu items. It felt unnecessary. I can read and choose what I want without pressure.
Despite a few small drawbacks, I enjoy coming here from time to time for some good hummus and falafel in the middle of Chiang Mai. The food is tasty, the portions are fair, and it’s always nice to have a familiar comfort food option in a foreign...
