TIME FOR LIME - Thai Cooking School and Cocktail fun — Local services in Ko Lanta Yai

Not only is the cooking school fantastic, it was the first to start a cooking school on Koh Lanta 22 years ago, but the crowning glory of this school is that all the money raised is to look after unwanted dogs, get them back to health and have them adopted out.

Now to the cooking school. Our chef was Noi and he was incredible. Not only is he a great chef, he knows how to teach and make the experience so much fun for everyone. He immediately put everyone to ease with his jokes and laughter. We came as a group of tourists and left feeling as if we had made new friends from all over the world.

We started by learning how to make a perfect margarita and it really was very different than the ones we have had at home but so good. From there he taught us all about the Thai ingredients we would be using in the dishes. We were all hands on, which meant we not only got to prepare everything but doing that will help us remember what we used and did. They also sent us an email after the class with all the recipes and tips we received during the class.

I highly recommend this class not only for the cooking but to see the environment the volunteers work with the rescued dogs. They even have tours at the site to see the work they do with the dogs and as part of the cost of the cooking school you can take the tour for free.

Listen up! Even if you are only mildly interested in a cooking class, do yourself a massive favor and BOOK THIS ONE! Why? Well, because this experience is so much more than a cooking class! A wonderful experience and worth every penny...

I have been to many cooking classes on my travels through Asia (I love food) .. and Time for Lime was by far the best I have experienced, by a long shot! This is a whole day affair so I would definitely recommend lining your stomach with a good breakfast, as they start with cocktails.. the chilli margarita was a win for me!

The cooking class itself was so informative, I really learnt a lot of practical information about preparing Thai food. Noi, our Maestro-Chef, was really engaging and funny, we all had a great time prepping our dishes, and then my husband and I took turns cooking and garnishing the plates (who had the prettiest looking plate became quite competitive!)

There's plenty of breaks to grab a beer and enjoy the swimming pool, as well as hang out with some of the sweet rescue dogs and cats. I personally thought that the price of the ticket was such good value for money, considering the quality of the seafood and other ingredients and the amount of time and effort that goes into making this class so professional and streamline. Before you've even had a chance to turn around your station has been cleaned for you and reset to start making the next course!
