We discovered this place when we went on the Lanta Animal Welfare tour as it's next door. The menu looked fantastic and we were greeted by a lovely dog so that sold it to us! We had already eaten, so we decided to just have a cocktail. The atmosphere was lovely, so on the strength of the menu and the fact that the cocktails were quite nice, we decided to come back for dinner later. However, unfortunately it went wrong from there 😕 It was a windy, rainy day and although covered, the restaurant is open air. When I had a little of my drink left, the wind blew and my napkin started to fly away. In grabbing for it, I knocked my glass and it toppled over- I mean wobbled and toppled over not crashed on the floor or anything. It broke as it tipped over on the table, spilling the rest of my cocktail. Embarrassed, I cleared up all the spilled drink and pieces of class- worried in particular in case any went on the floor and got in the dog's paws. The staff didn't notice, so I called someone over, explained what had happened and apologised. Her ONLY reaction was to say 'you'll have to pay for the glass'. She wasn't concerned about checking for any residual mess or glass - nor did she say the usual customer service thing of 'don't worry about it' or anything similar! Just that. She then went over to the boss (an expat not a local) to tell him, and I was promptly brought my bill without requesting it with the glass charge added. I might have forgiven such a lapse in normal customer service (and business sense as obviously we didn't return for that dinner) if it had been locally owned and managed and the glass was perhaps expensive for them to replace, but it was clearly foreigner run and I was only charged 50 baht for the glass. The restaurant was around the corner from my hotel so they lost out on what would likely have been repeat business from us throughout...
Read moreI usually don't leave such reviews but I came out of this place feeling like they tried to fool me so here it goes..
Firstly, I ordered the avocado and mango salsa and the grilled chicken breads.. as you can see in the photo one slice of bread is "normal sized" and one is very tiny, the end of the bread loaf but they cost the same.. At home that's fine..In a restaurant usually not so much, especially in a "Western" one..
Secondly, my avocado and mango salsa bread had no avocado on it. I had to ask them about it and got five super thin avocado slices on a plane..
Thirdly, they billed both of us for the sandwich that my cousin took which was more expensive than mine so we had to ask them to correct the bill..
The staff were very nice and chatty and smiling but as all of this happened it didn't feel like a coincidence anymore and more like they were trying to give as little as possible and get as much out as possible..I don't disrespect that a business needs to make money but it didn't feel honest even though they seemed to be very friendly.
The place looks lovely though and the...
Read moreOrdered food for delivery via Lanta365 app. Very easy process, extensive menu at The Garden and very competitive prices. Had fish & chips and pork schnitzel, with fries and mushroom sauce. Good tasty fish, nice crispy batter, also good size portion compared to other local restaurants. Fries always difficult to keep good. Will opt for another accompaniment next time, as I prefer chunky to skinny French fries. Pork schnitzel was tasty also, nice crispy batter. Not a fan of the mushroom sauce today, I found it too rich and creamy, so will try another next time. Same as above for French fries, not the restaurant's fault, its just how it goes with French fries. Potato be better option for me. Great app too, and speedy service from delivery driver who was very helpful, I didn't have the correct cash and she not have change, but she solved this issue swiftly. Very kind and friendly. I recommend this restaurant, will try and visit next time. Great menu to suit everyone and great service overall....
