I was a little skeptical getting my hair done in Bangkok - but rest assured! I was very happy with the services I received from Phonatip!

His shop is quaint, nestled in a modern building not too far from Phaya Thai Station off the BTS. I LOVED that I was able to book my appointment online- made it very easy since I don't have a lot of call time on my SIM haha.

I was wayyyyy overdue of a haircut and color - we went with an ash brown and took about 2.5 inches off (I had quite a lot of damage).

It was just Phonatip and I in his shop on a Saturday afternoon. His shop was clean, with many Buddahs throughout- you can tell he really cares about his culture. He was quite but very accommodating - which I prefer, not a fan of a stylist that that talks your ear off the whole time! I enjoyed the music he was playing in the background.

I went in at 11:45 and was out a little before 1:30- That was with a cut, color and style.

If you want the "Salon Experience" i.e. free coffee/champagne and ambiance ($$$), I would recommend going somewhere else. But if you want a quick haircut and style, so you can get back to your day, I would highly...

Mr. Phonatip is a sweetheart!!! To be honest, I read the reviews and braced myself for someone who'd be "rude" and "dismissive," made sure to come on time since that seemed to be an issue for some clients before, and had many photos prepared of what I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised to see he was the complete opposite! He was so kind and friendly, we immediately got along well! My hair is long, thick, and difficult to manage, but he spent twice the amount of time and effort and charged such a cheap fee, muchhhh cheaper than what I pay in New York for my hair! I am so happy! More than that though, I enjoyed having by hair done by him. He is such a genuine, sincere, humble person who only cares about his customers' happiness. Whereas everyone else is bent on ripping you off, he is fair and honest in the way he handles his business. I sincerely wish him the best in every way. If I'm ever back in Bangkok, I'll grow my hair out just to get it cut by him again. :)

Avoid! Mr Phonatip behaved atrociously at my pre-booked appointment based on all the positive reviews I found on Google, not once asking me what I would like for my cut, shampooing my hair and asking me to part my own hair for a trim I didn't ask for. I had to insist on showing a photo of how I would like the cut to look and move away from the scissors he was wielding. He eventually agreed to look and relented that he could cut it 'similar' to the picture but that it wouldn't look like what I wanted. He then asked me to also comb in the style I wanted myself and on my asking whether we could have a conversation about what he was actually going to do, he replied that why does it matter, 'it was only hair!' I felt no confidence in this stylist being able to cut my locks and his attitude left me feeling very belittled and upset. When I told him that I was feeling a little uncomfortable he shouted for me to get out of his shop. An option I gladly took!
