Wasn’t really going to post this review but after reading the rest of the negative reviews, I feel like I should post this in order to prevent anyone else being ripped off.
Disappointed to say the least. The older gentleman & woman who have worked here for years (the owners I think) are extremely well mannered and polite, however the younger girl that serves - her attitude is nothing short of rude.
I was charged £4.90 for literally a hand full of chips with a tub of curry sauce. She actually removed 3 chips from the box after scooping them in - right in front of my face. I actually couldn’t believe what I was seeing. When I asked her if she was being serious she gave me an awful death stare, strugged her shoulders and said yes that’s the price. For a full portion, I wouldn’t mind but there was no more than the equivalent of 1/2 a potato in that box.
I said just to leave it as I wasn’t paying £5 for that so I would just take the pizza, the death stare appeared again. So I decided just to leave the whole order and asked for a refund - the gentleman did at this point offer to put more chips in the box however after this awful experience I just wanted my money back so I could take my custom elsewhere. I had to ask at least 5 times for my money to be handed back to me, which by this point has all the other customers looking over which was extremely embarrassing.
Such a shame the poor customer service let this well established business down, as well as the extremely stingy portion sizes as you’ll see from the...
Read moreIf your planning a trip to Edinburgh you MUST visit this fish and chip shop!!! We ate in there 3 times during our trip from London. The fish and chips were the best we have ever had, the fish was perfectly seasoned and had light crispy batter. The chips were fluffy on the inside and to die for. The fish and chips in Edinburgh ( we tried a few places!) Is superior to what we have had in London, however Salvatories was the best. Avoid the tourist traps and go to Salvatories! The owner Salvatorie is an absolute legend and a true gentleman, he was so friendly and passionate about the food. It's made us want to move to Edinburgh. Also try the pizza, it's freshly made and was delicious, all the staff were amazing. We never usually write reviews but Salvatorie you deserve it! My son says thanks again for the chocolate ! Hopefully we will return soon ! Much...
Read moreBy far the best chippy chips in Edinburgh! I bought a fish supper, a battered cheeseburger and a battered sausage singe (you get 2 sausage). The fish was lovely, I like to eat the chips first but most chippys always give you far too much chips and it's either the chips or some of the fish that go to waste but you get the perfect amount so you can actually finish the whole supper!
Also the battered cheeseburger burgers is much thicker than other ones I've tried in Edinburgh and there is plenty of cheese inside too, I only managed 2 bites but I stuck it in the air fryer the next day and scoffed it all on a buttered roll!
I will definitely be coming back to Salvatore's the next time I'm in Edinburgh as the food was 10/10!
Plus if you order of their own app you can get 10% off on your...
