The New Hill Station — Local services in City of Edinburgh

Ordered £120 worth of food for 5 of us, the food was really good and it was hot on arrival. The reason for the 3 stars is that we ordered one vegetarian curry as we had a vegetarian guest, however the lamb tikka massala was put on top of the veg curry and it leaked out into it. I called the restaurant and asked if they could send another one and take this back as we hadn't opened it due to seeing the massala sauce on the lid, however they blamed the uber eats driver for using a small bag rather than accepting poor placement and not putting a vegetarian dishe underneath meat ones. Wouldn't send a repalcemt and said to go through Uber for a refumd. What was more annoying was that I could tell the girl on the phone understood our frustration and was trying her best but could hear the manager in the back getting annoyed and when refused to come to the phone. Been meaning to try for a while now and so glad I finally did - collected a lamb Saag which was incredible, from a very welcoming employee. The lamb was lean and melt in the mouth texture. Also a very generous portion. Unlike most places I've been to, the spinach wasn't pureed through the sauce but instead had pieces through it. Excellent value even though I paid more than I could have by stupidly ordering through a platform instead of directly with the shop. ( potential customers take note !) Highly recommended and will definitely be back to try the sit in set meal on offer.

It would appear you can't review the same place again after a short period of time hence the edit. Went back tonight and ordered lamb Dhansak to rate the consistency of the food. Again, it was incredible. Safe to say this will be my regular establishment ...

The New Hill Station is our local Indian takeaway and always makes an effort to make you feel welcome , unlike some other takeaways it is clean, bright and freshly painted. The manager who took my order was very friendly and gave me the 15% discount deal due to the festival without me having to ask for it.

I ordered a Chicken Korma along with a portion of Pilau rice and a Peshwari Nan . The portion sizes were good , the chicken tender with plenty of creamy sauce, but I felt it could do with a bit more flavour. I will either try the chefs special Korma next time or maybe a hotter curry. The Nan was huge and tasty but the Pilau rice was a bit weird and had set into a sort of hard lump . I scraped it out of the container best I could but but didn’t eat the lumps. Apart from the rice it was good and I look forward to be a bit more adventurous...
