Cheng's Garden — Local services in Coventry

Called in advance an order at 7:20pm on a Saturday.

Was told about 20 minutes.

Now I'm not an idiot, Saturdays are a busy night, so when I arrived at 7:30pm I wasn't expecting it to be ready, however by 7:50pm having seen 6 WALK-INS order and leave whilst I was still waiting, rest assured I was not happy.

At 8:10, still no food, by which point I was asked "what did you order?" as they had clearly lost or forgotten my order.

By which point I was absolutely fuming and the cashier appeared to hide at the back as much as possible.

If I hadn't of paid when I arrived I would have left.

Finally got my order at 8:20, an hour after ordering and 50 minutes after arriving.

Ok so I have always held myself back writing a review for chengs garden as the food is always genetallg good. I even changed my Chinese for a year and today gone back to using them.

I decided to order on their own app. Ordered at 7pm, 8:05 still no food. I called up and they advised it will be 15 mins and no apologies. The app States citrenc delivery times are 45 mins.

This is precisely the reason I stopped going here for a while. I don't understand how bad timings can be. In a family that order from various takeaways on a Sat night this is a massive inconvenience as it's always late.

I think I have learnt my lesson now.

Have used this Chinese for many years. There has been a change of cook/owner lately and the quality of the food has dropped dramatically.

I have bought food on a couple of occasions from this Take Away, spare ribs were so burnt I could not eat them ( 2 occasions) chow mein so much paste in the dish that it was inedible. Ordered 3 portions of pancake rolls (6rolls 2 per portion) got them home and had just 3.

I telephoned on each occasion and was not even given an apology.

I have given them the chance to improve and it has not happened so I will reluctantly take my business elsewhere which is a shame as they used to do...
