The renovation work done on the museum was well worth the time and effort and there are lots of well thought through additions. The museum is vast so you could spend hours there but, as entry is free, I quite often just pop in to spend a few minutes in a lunch break or when waiting for the train (it is just next to Exeter Central Station). It is worth noting that there are lockers at the museum where you can leave your belongings while you walk round which is great for those who are passing by and perhaps have more bags etc that they would like! There is a wonderful model of Exeter within the museum which is so interesting to see and the taxidermy (although it might not be everyone's cup of tea) is also a big draw. The museum often has really wonderful exhibitions such as the BBC wildlife photographer of the year so there is always something new to see. I haven't eaten in the cafe there but have heard good things. Everything in the museum seems to have some sort of link to Exeter (however tenuous) & just gives a feeling of being there for the people. It was friendly & relaxed & the information is suitable for the younger/casual interest & also anyone who wants to read more about something. It's laid out in such a way that most of the rooms & exhibits 'flow' & connect together. You could probably spend half a day there (we ran out of time). However, the reviewers who've said the café is reasonably priced, probably come from a more expensive area than Exeter (personally we thought £6+ for a ciabatta & a bit of salad is...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Exeter Royal Albert Memorial Museum and I must say, it was truly a fantastic experience! The museum is one of the grandest things to see in Exeter, with its Victorian building and vast collection of over 1,000 items.

The museum is very well maintained, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, providing expert insights on the exhibits. From the natural history and anthropology displays to the fine art and ceramics collections, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The museum also features a cafe, offering a range of delicious food and drink options, perfect for taking a break and relaxing during your visit.

But what really sets this museum apart is the incredible Victorian building that it is housed in. The architecture is truly stunning, with intricate details and grand features that transport you back in time. It's no wonder that some say the building has a ghost - the old lady in a white dress - adding an extra layer of intrigue and mystery to the experience.

Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Exeter Royal Albert Memorial Museum to anyone in the area. It's an experience that should not be missed, and is sure to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages and interests. So why wait? Book your next trip now and discover the grandeur and history of this wonderful museum for yourself!

We did not get to experience much of the museum as we left due to a rude and aggressive member of staff. Me, my girlfriend, our 12 year old son and our 3 month old baby went to the museum while we were on holiday. We first went to the cafe and purchased cans of drink whilst we fed our baby and then carried on into the museum. A lady then approached us and stated that we were not aloud to have food and drink in the museum and that we would have to go to the cafe, this was literally the first thing she said to us and she already had an attitude and seemed very annoyed. I polity said ok we will head to the cafe but it’s not very good that there are no signs in the cafe stating this (I checked when we walked past) My girlfriend was a little slower at walking because she was carrying the baby so we kept pace with her. At this point the woman was following us and generally making us feel very uncomfortable so we just left. We were heading to the cafe already so why she felt the need to follow us and keep commenting that we needed to head to the cafe in a rude tone was completely un Called for. It completely ruined our day and I would suggest that the museum look into there volunteers as it seems they have a few reviews...
