Have been watching this store in slow decline over the past couple of years. It still has some of the nice touches that make Morrisons a nice place for groceries - fresh foods, deli counter and so on, but for a long time now it seems the freezers are slowly failing, one after another, and not being repaired or replaced. And in recent weeks, one of the "Free from" fridges is closed with no explanation, meaning the lactose-free milk we require is no longer available. As a result, our shopping is mostly done elsewhere now.
To add to that, fruit and veg rarely seems to have a good selection any more, with very few options for loose produce and many items that we used to buy regularly seemingly unavailable with empty spaces left instead. It seems standard now that at least one of loose carrots, parsnips, onions or potatoes are either not available, or the few damaged, shrivelled or plain rotten examples left aren't worth buying. What happened to the pledge a couple of years ago to offer more loose produce and reduce plastic packaging? Peppers are another one - what's the point in having dozens of them on display if every single one of them is mushy and wrinkly? Is it just to fill the space that used to be used for something else?
There don't seem to be many options for fresh meat either sometimes, with whole sections of the fridges empty and the few remaining options short dated so unsuitable for a weekly shop.
The staff always tend to be nice and friendly on the tills, and on occasion when I've been there after 8pm they've reopened tills to save me going through the self-service checkouts with a full trolley, which is to be commended. There's one guy on the tills though who insists on putting loose fruit and veg in new plastic bags, despite me bringing my own bags. I still can't understand the reasoning behind this, so I just try to avoid him.
Morrisons Newlands and Giffnock are both much better in terms of upkeep and stock, though a little further away for us. Tesco Silverburn is also a better option, and tends to get our business more these days as a result of this decline. It's sad really, but unsurprising to see Morrisons struggling to keep stores open if this sort of decline in service is able to...
Read moreI have always loved morrisons and even gave a positive review ages ago but now i am editing my review, i do parcels for amazon flex and everytime i go to morrisons cardonald i get thrown out of the amazon flex area, i get told by the staff to stand out and wait for my turn. Everytime i go there to collect my parcels i stand out i leave my trolley outside aswell to make it easier for morrisons staff, i then walk inside to collect my parcels knowing that i am the 2nd person going inside since only 2 persons are allowed at a time due to the covid restrictions. The restrictions are for amazon flex drivers only and not for the morrisons staff, there are like 20 of them laughing and chatting away everytime i go there. But apparently the rules apply to black and brown people only. Infront of my eyes they never tell white people to stand outside they always have a problem with me i even argued with one of them and they all surrounded me telling me to leave the amazon flex area or i will get banned???? I work for amazon not for morrisons. I was treated very badly and i want the head of cardonald morrisons to go and sneak in the amazon flex area and have a look what your...
