Shahi Tandoori Takeaway — Local services in Great Britain

Disappointed regular. Usually great food and service. Last night took over 2 hours to arrive (40 mins after E.T.A.), following three chase-up calls to the restaurant. Food was luke-warm. No apology from the driver, who was nice but reluctant to give us the receipt at the door as a record of the timing, etc. The guy on the phone offered half price NEXT time we ordered, but I don't believe he would have kept records of who we were to follow this through. Said he could refund us in an hour's time once the driver had returned to him with the food, or we could just wait and accept it. Also suggested I walk to the restaurant to collect my refund. Also suggested I call just-eat, who in their confirmation email only gave the restaurant's direct line and told me to call them. When I told him this he backtracked and gave in a little. I go to a lot of Indian restaurants. I am generally left disappointed as even the ones with good reviews are very samey, often either ridiculously spicy of completely bland and often full of oil and colouring. This place is remarkably good for the price. It looks outside like another bog standard Indian place but the two times I got take aways in April they were really well spiced, good quality meat/chicken and generally excellent. Very impressed and will go again... update: been twice in recent weeks - once it was only "ok" but this week it was excellent again... every restaurant will have bad days - still the best value for the type of take away it is in York. Ordered through Just Eat. Ordered Prawn Dansak, chicken tikka masala, chicken madras. Each meal was in identical sauce. It was later on when we ordered and it’s obvious that rather than turn the order and money down they put the chicken and then the prawns in to whichever sauce they had left at that time. It was identical, deep red, had separated and there was a layer of oil on the top of each takeaway carton. It was the first Saturday that the pubs were open after lockdown and late.
