The Chocolate Quarter was constructed using the art deco buildings built by Fry's and finally owned by Cadburys before they moved manufacturing to Poland. The buildings were then taken over by St Monicas Trust who own several care homes in the Bristol area. It is pretty industrial when you drive in and the former gardens have been replaced by houses built quite close to the works buildings. This gives a cramped industrial feel, far from the feeling Fry's would have been aiming for. Inside it has been renovated to a reasonable standard although there is too much use of the Cadbury purple for most people. Service was good and the staff friendly. The food was of good standard although typically of a St Monicas institution there was plenty of swede. You are limited to two hours parking which meant there wasn't enough time to...

It was OK but very small but expensive with high service charges. I feel so sorry for those who bought there, as shortly after buying, another faise of building wea underway blocking out light and outlook to the apartments. As to the residential home it must be detressing to be sandwiched in-between two authentic looking factory units. They are still building tomorrow's slums. Rows of tight teristed houses with little space between the row's and very little natural light. The estate is vastly over developed...

Care in the nursing home is first class (as you'd expect when paying top dollar). Only issue I have is being sent £100 parking charges when topping up my electric car while visiting my mum. Twice I've appealed and had the appeal upheld but why do they have to use such a nasty, small minded company to manage the parking. It's not as if you have any reason to park there unless visiting or using onsite...
