W Hamond of York — Local services in Great Britain

Attended W. Hammond in York last week for the purpose of collecting a watch on behalf of Jura watches. We were looked after by Rhiannon and Mason. Both are cracking individuals with a real passion for what they do. It’s worth mentioning that the York store does not generally stock watches, however at your request they are able to source and provide a more than comprehensive service. My Breitling was sent to them within 24 hours of my purchase. Mason took his time ensuring the strap was sized and fitted correctly. This was a fiddly job which he carried out whilst we spoke with Rhiannon who explained the origins of Whitby Jet and the jewellery on display. We were in the store for the best part of 30 minutes and received an extremely attentive service. We recently visited York for a pre Christmas treat for my husband who had never been before. We came upon this lovely jewellers in The Shambles. I took a fancy to a couple of pieces and was expertly guided by Mark Sanders. He allowed us time to think about which piece would be the right choice. It also turns out this shop is under the ownership of one of our local jewellers back in Derbyshire.Small world!

I wanted a very specific ring and called in at your store in The Shambles. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful, unfortunately she was interrupted by a very rude older lady. When I repeated my request she told me there was no such ring. She seemed more concerned with sending an email than helping a customer. The young lady found my ring online ( the one that didn’t exist) but unfortunately it was out of stock.
