Excellent shop offering buying and selling of a diverse range of goods relating to home entertainment including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, watches, cameras etc and an extensive range of computer accessories eg speakers, webcams, keyboards, midi keyboards, gamepads etc. In the York store the ground floor hosts a range of Blu-rays, 4Ks and video games including games for older consoles like Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and PS3. You can get some crazy bargains if you are using an console like this and walk away with a quality game for as little as one pound. Upstairs there are more retro games, some for even older consoles plus thousands of DVDs. The DVD prices are really cheap. I walked away with a Blu-ray and 3 DVD box sets and only spend ten pounds! Upstairs is far less busy than downstairs and was nice and cool on a hot summers day. You could easily spend an hour browsing here.
The staff are very down to earth and friendly and really into what they are selling and they look down at you if you are only spending a few pounds.
The pricing throughout is very competitive and generally similar to Amazon/EBay but obviously you avoid postage hassles. The flips side of this is if you are selling items their cash value may be much less than you paid originally as they sell them off cheap however if you trade in towards other items or a store voucher you get a lot more. You can check both the buying and selling prices on...
Read moreJust terrible. My mate bought an Xbox Series S from these robbers and it turned out the console was literally console banned so the guy before realised he could no longer used it and just sold it here. Didn't want to know gave him a small amount of store credit no responsibility nothing and even I've bought broken stuff from here before like scratched discs that won't play to controllers with stick drift. I don't even understand why these broken items get sold when I've tried selling with them in the past they spent a good 10 minutes looking for a specific reason to refuse me something as simple as a scratch only visible with a magnifying glass at 10X is enough to have these guys refuse you. It's a joke avoid stick to eBay for used stuff at least them guys will actually do something if you run into issue and you can also find some good prices on refurbished stuff. Forget CEX nothing is even refurbished or even tested. Reminds me of another...
Read moreI bought a “B Grade” iMac online from CeX York, which arrived in clear C Grade condition — with scratches, dings, a bent stand, and less RAM than comparable B Grade models. Despite providing photos and evidence, the refund I received didn’t reflect the real value difference.
Customer service was inconsistent and misleading: first denying any issue, then admitting it was C Grade, refusing a refund due to a “significant difference,” offering only a voucher, and finally giving a small cash refund after I pushed further.
When I provided detailed comparisons from CeX’s own listings showing how the RAM and grading differences didn’t add up, I was dismissed and told the support team “doesn’t handle pricing.”
Overall, a frustrating and misleading experience. CeX’s handling fell far below fair...
