As a male with long difficult thick curly hair to cut, this is the only place which I feel comfortable with closing my eyes and not worrying about how it will turn out.
How can I say this, there is no words that could describe the sensation of joy when Stephanie fixed the absolute abomination that was laying on my head. Do believe me when I say this, my hair was terrible. I used to have a hairstylist (SHORT STORY) that always cut my hair my perfectly and I never ever looked back or even thought that there was something wrong with it, till the horror COVID-19 stroke and she disappeared after the first lockdown, when it ended I was left with long thick curly hair that had roughly 4 or more different natural curl patterns and stupidly I thought I could go to any random barber/hairdresser and get it cut like I always did for years. Unfortunately, they messed it up, ruined the curls, left one side longer then the other, made the top part of my head Flat and nowhere near round. I was upset and extremely blunt with telling him that it was terrible (STORY ENDS HERE).
I searched for a curly hair salon and kept looking, this is where I found the diamond Stephanie. I mean she is a diamond. As soon as I walked in and saw the way she looked (yes, her style and her looks) I had absolute faith that she will fix it. Her style alone, the passion in her eyes as she was cutting the other persons hair In front of me with precision and slow with no rush at all making sure the work of art was complete, I knew she would fix the mess that was left on my head.
(REVIEW) So I sat down and immediately she engaged in a conversation making me feel comfortable, of course I had no confidence thatās due to the fact that my confidence is my hair (as crazy as it sounds) I show it off with pride, I stand behind it feeling strong and powerful because my hair is my mane, a thick curly lionsā mane (forgive the cringe) so it was paramount that I needed it to be fixed. Yet she understood the value I had for it. She began cutting away mainly focusing on the uneven parts of my head, began educating me on how my hair should be cut, she began layering perfectly, adding shape, not rushing at all and taking her time with every cut. Within the first hour I saw a massive difference, the shape was there, and it was round, even and just the way I wanted it. I am not the person to smile, but believe me when I say this, I smiled so hard that my cheeks still hurt, I was that satisfied of the cut. So, to end this review I say take it from an Engineer where I look at every small detail, that she is the real deal, and she is where you should get a curly cut.
I also been taking progression pictures and have the before and after pictures, insta A.sking09 I highly recommend getting your curly hair cut here as I would be getting it done here for the rest of my time.
P.S the place is extremely clean, I have no clue as to why the other reviews are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve spent the past 63 years enjoying my naturally curly hair ā though, like most curls, it has its good days and bad. For as long as I can remember, Iāve wondered why some days my curls bounce beautifully while others fall flat. Was it the shampoo? The conditioner? The way I dried it? Or perhaps too much product ā leave-in conditioner, curl cream, scrunching gel, finishing gelā¦the list is endless.
Living in Portugal, salons that truly specialise in curly hair are few and far between ā not a criticism, just a reality of supply and demand. After watching countless YouTube tutorials and filling a cupboard with every promising product, I finally decided to take the plunge and book a haircut at The Curly Hair Salon in Rennie Street, London. Admittedly, it was a little indulgent flying to the UK for a haircut, but we made a weekend of it with some good food and time with friends.
So, with a mix of excitement and trepidation, I arrived at the salon last Friday to meet Stephanie, the Director. I neednāt have been nervous at all. She sat me down and we talked for nearly 20 minutes about my hair, my routine, the challenges Iād been having, and the cut I hoped for. She was so easy to talk to ā and, more importantly, she truly understood curly hair. Within minutes, she identified exactly what Iād been doing wrong: my fine curls were being weighed down by far too much product.
Stephanie cut my hair dry, with incredible care and attention. Then came a scalp cleanse and mask to remove every trace of product build-up, followed by a lightweight shampoo and conditioner suited perfectly to my fine curls. She showed me how to apply just the right amount of product ā a revelation in itself ā and then how to dry my hair with a diffuser so the curls could fall naturally.
We discussed how often to wash my hair and, crucially, how to āresurrectā it on those mornings when it wakes up sticking out in every direction and defying gravity. Stephanie was generous with her time and knowledge. I did buy the products she used, but she never pushed them; in fact, she encouraged me to source them locally in Portugal if I could. When I asked how often I should return for a cut, she said every 8ā10 months ā not every few weeks, as many stylists might suggest.
I walked out of her salon absolutely delighted ā with lighter, bouncier curls and a far better understanding of how to care for them.
For anyone with naturally curly hair ā and thatās all Stephanie works with ā I canāt recommend her highly enough. Yes, itās an investment, but for me it was worth every penny. My only regret is that I waited until 63 to take the plunge. Iāll definitely be back next year.
Thank you, Stephanie, for giving me back my curls and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI saw Stephanie for the first time 2.5 years ago when my curls were in an absolutely dire state - broken ends, exceptionally dry, dull and frizzy. Over the years my hair had fallen out for various reasons and become so brittle. They were far from the curls I had when I was a teenager.
Weāve come so far from that very first appointment all those years ago! Stephanie has managed to unlock potential I didnāt even know my curls had!!
She educated me on how to take care of my hair, including how to wash and style it, and has really brought my curls back to life.
Iāve always wanted to dye my hair but was anxious about the damage that would come from bleaching etc. so Stephanie used dyes free from ammonia to ensure we did this in a safe way. I was also apprehensive about too much of a drastic change, so we started off with a subtle, natural look, and plan to gradually build up the colour with time and to add different shades.
My hair is very dry, and so aside from cut and colours, I have also attended detox and hydrating treatments which have helped manage this.
Our next goal is to work on retaining the length, with continued attention to the ongoing hydration needs of my hair.
Stephanie has clearly dedicated time to perfect her craft and studies your hair to individualise her service, and cater it to each clientsā specific, unique needs. And she has fun whilst doing it!
Stephanie clearly loves her job and she loves transforming my curls! Over the years she has made great efforts to thoroughly investigate and explore what my hair needs to heal and to look its best. It has been a beautiful journey!
Her expertise and passion combined has allowed my hair to be healthier than ever and Iām so grateful to her! She is amazing.
Getting my hair done by Stephanie is always a cathartic experience, to know that in those few hours I am able to relax, put my trust in her and take a breather from a busy, crazy life. The whole service is 10/10 and I would absolutely recommend to anyone with curls that need saving like mine did!
Thank you for everything Stephanie! Lots of love and Iāll...
