Proper neighbourhood restaurant, with tables ever so slightly too close together, cute but chaotic decor and a menu full of Sardinian delights. On Saturday, I had gnocchetini with Sardinian sausages and tomato sauce, which was delicious but really, really filling - portions are huge here. My friend had their reliably ace specials, the Renaissance-sounding roasted suckling pig with garlic and rosemary roast potatos and veg. House wine is decent, prices are good (the pig was £17, the pasta £9 - not too bad for portions so big that they always offer goodie bags) and you get a free mini-tumbler of limoncello with the bill.
Even better, Luigi's was previously a short-lived cocktail bar. They've changed the upstairs decor but kept the disco balls and mirrored walls of the downstairs and turned into a club. It's brilliant to leave behind the local maps and cute photos of Sardinia and descend to both the loos and a proper hands-in-the-air style club night. Luigi's have one of the latest licenses in N16, which is always...
Read moreWe decided to go to this place based on the excellent reviews. From the moment I sat down at my table I understood that it wasn't going to be the authentic Italian experience everyone is raving about -- if you make pasta with chicken you can't have anything to do with authentic Italian cuisine . A simple starter like bruschetta al pomodoro executed on some very thin cheap supermarket type of bread set the scene for what to expect for our mains. Wine was very disappointing also although it was in the top range of the selection, an authentic Sardinian wine! We decided not to be brave by trying one of their authentic desserts. In a few words - You can find much better quality lasagne, ravioli and antipasti at M&S for 1/5 of the price, because yes, this place is also very pricey for its range. One star is for the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at trattoria da Luigi , and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience. The pasta was absolutely incredible—hands down the best I’ve ever had! Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the texture was perfect. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh, and the dish was crafted with a lot of care.
Not just the pasta, but the entire meal was exceptional. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and truly impressive. From the appetizers to the main course, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive, and the atmosphere added to the experience, making it a perfect night out.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food. If you’re a pasta lover, this restaurant should definitely be...
