amazing store, worth the trek to go and find some new boots. the owner is wonderful and you can tell how much care he has for his store and the culture, as well as how much knowledge he has.
My time in the store meant i saw his interactions with other customers, which were all lovely too. I'm a very socially anxious person, and he managed to make me feel welcome in a small store, something that i'm sure other anxious people will be impressed with!
I bought an absolutely beautiful pair of tony lama boots from the store on friday, and unfortunately it seemed there was something wrong with them. I had originally just thought it was a size issue with them, but it turns out the issue was entirely unnoticeable from the outside and you had to wear them for a while to be able to notice it, so there's no blame to store there - it's just one of those things. i unfortunately needed to go back to exchange them, and he helped me with trying on different pair, finding the right sort of fit for me.
after struggling to find a pair to exchange with, he had already figured out exactly what i like in boots, and went to check the small amount of extra stock, bringing out a beautiful pair of full quill ostrich boots. I wasn't 100% on the color and passed them up, but it goes to show that the owner cares so much about every customer that he can know them well enough to pick out boots for them! (FWIW, i probably would have purchased those ortrich boots if i wasn't already in love with the boots i was exchanging them for!)
instead of looking for more exchanges, we ended up theory-crafting the issue with the tony lamas. i then took them to my local cobbler who agreed what the issue was, and fixed them. the owner covered the cost of the repairs, and now I have a dream pair of boots. he apologised profusely and was incredibly professional, going far above and beyond to help me. I genuinely cannot recommend this store enough.
EDIT: something that I think is worth mentioning is that, as a queer and trans dude i felt welcomed here, something that is very hard to come by in western/cowboy...
Read moreAfter googling for a shop that sells cowboy boots for my partner, we stumbled upon Hey Cowboy! I read the great reviews and made a day trip out of it. Not only is the carefully curated aesthetic of the shop already enough to draw you in but the selection of cowboy boots was amazing from sizes to styles. We walked into a very warm welcome from Hayden who was super knowledgeable and extremely helpful! He advised us on different shoes that would be most comfortable for us and that would fit our feet best. He even went out of his way to check the back stock for boots around our size and eventually I think we tried on every boot they had. My partner found a great pair of boots and I also ended up walking away with some boots of my own! He also answered all my random questions and was just all round a pleasure to meet. Will definitely be coming back for...
Read moreI went to Hey Cowboy! looking for western clothes that aren't too common in the UK, and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the stock. The racks of clothes had been colour coded and everything was genuine and of a good quality. After picking out a shirt I inquired about the belts and was shown a few really cool vintage belts that had great patina and accompanying buckles. The staff were helpful the entire time, were more than happy to show me their collection of cowboy gear, and even let me try on a couple boots.
If you're looking for a place to get authentic kit and don't want to travel to the US for it yourself, this is your best candidate in London. I will be returning when new boot stocks are brought in! Highly...
