Have been seeing a lot of promotions of this place on Instagram and I am a big fan of all things pistachio so having heard how fantastic their pistachio pesto was I knew I had to pay it a visit.
I came on the August bank holiday Monday around 1:30pm and there was no queue at all which was great as the other branch in Hoxton seems to have a queue all the time. I had already decided on getting the Da Vinci but was extremely sad and disappointed to hear that they had already run out of pistachio pesto even though they had only been open for a couple hours. Not sure if they just didn't have any in stock that day or if it was already sold out.
The staff also all seemed to be quite stressed and exhausted as they didn't really welcome any customers with a smile like they would in their videos on Instagram and there was just no enthusiasm at all. Instantly that made me feel less excited about what I was gonna eat. However, the lady serving me did offer to switch the pesto for some other sauce of my choice and I went with truffle cream which she was happy to do. There was only one size for Da Vinci especially and it's £11 for a big schiacciata.
I gotta be honest and say that I wasn't impressed by the sandwich at all. Overall it's a little dry even tho the bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The truffle cream was perhaps the biggest highlight as they did give me a generous amount of it and it's very savoury and rich. But apart from that I just didn't think it's worth £11.
Not sure if I will ever...
Read moreDal Fiorentino is a hidden treasure among London's sandwich shops, and my recent visit left me utterly delighted. The Purgatorio Schiacciata I had was a revelation of flavors and textures. The combination of mortadella, truffle cream, stracciatella cheese, and zucchini was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. The mortadella brought its savory charm, harmonizing beautifully with the luxurious truffle cream that elevated the experience to new heights. The creamy stracciatella cheese balanced the richness with its subtle tang, while the zucchini added a fresh crunch. Each bite was a symphony of tastes that lingered in my memory long after the last bite. Without a doubt, the Purgatorio Schiacciata at Dal Fiorentino is an absolute must-try, showcasing the artistry and passion of...

I went for the small rafaello sandwich, a limited edition menu item which had pancetta, tomatoes, pistachio pesto and Stracciatella. They also sell this sandwich in a larger size too but I wanted room for pudding 🤣 which was my pistachio sandwich. It had a generous helping of pistachio cream, So simple but so amazing!
Staff were friendly too and the shop is takeout-only but they offer bags for multiple sandwiches and sandwiches are wrapped so they can be eaten on the go with very little mess. In addition to their standard menu they have limited edition items plus their sweet menu is a nice little addition worth trying.
