It was the first day of the 50% off new items on the menu offer. There was 9 of us. 6 of the group had ordered first so naturally i knew my food would come last but I didn’t think it would not come at all! It took 45 minutes for the first 3 meal’s to come. We understood it was a busy day but the steak and chips were not piping hit. It was all warm, after 5 minutes the chips had gone hard and stale. There was barely any of the sauce on the pink steak. The waiter/waitress didn’t ask how we wanted the steak done. One steak got sent back to be cooked well done. 45 minutes it took for the waiter to tell us that the kid’s chicken tenders were not available. Not sure who’s fault that was. My friends Kids were starving. They eventually got meals on the house. 45 minutes after i had ordered I hadn’t received anything or my kids, i asked waiter for update and he said my food wasn’t cooked yet. I got up with my 2 kids and left our group of friends. I went to Taco Smash across the road which was far better in customer service, food and delivery. While i had gone to taco smash my friends told me that my food had actually come out 5 minutes after i left and the waitress was wondering around with it looking clueless. The waiter ushered her to quickly take it back and informed her it belonged to the person who left, me.

What i will like to say is i know it was a busy day, and i don’t think it was the waiting staff’s or kitchen staff fault for the errors. It was clearly management’s fault. Management was too busy with influencers downstairs chatting away instead of helping serve customers. Management should have hired extra staff. Management was downstairs standing around with food vlogger HalalHunt and chatting away whilst setting up to film a promo video. We noticed that the management was busy catering to influencers downstairs on other tables and letting the real customers like us receive warm/cold food and not giving food to our kids. I noticed that alot of effort has gone into the ‘marketing’ of this establishment. Promo videos with drones and influencers and so on. That will never change the fact that the service isn’t great neither is the food. The groups general feedback on food:

Iced mocha frappe - it just tasted of strong coffee with ice, could not even taste the chocolate.

Steak and chips - chips were awful. Hard and luke warm. Steak was pink, not even asked how i wanted it. Barely any sauce on top.

Chicken roast/Lamb roast : again barely any gravy ontop. The roast potatoes where tiny and seemed like they was cooked hours prior.

Sheperds pie was the only decent item that we had ordered. Came with a nice bengali salad.

Okra fries - ok but nothing compared to the okra fries at dishoom.

Lemon chilli squid - definitely not worth it for that small portion. Rip off.

Molasses chai - its not a real chai. Your better off going chai wala or naan staap.

Bengali scotch eggs - very dry on the outside and had quite bland. It did not suite the tangy sauce on the side.

I dont know who’s taste pallet they had in mind when they chose the items for the new menu. Definitely not for south east asians who are predominantly...

Went there with work friends for lunch today. Nice clean place. Staff were very friendly and professional.

You get to eat your food on tables made with a Carrom Board (with a removable thick plastic cover) as the table top and you can play Carrom by taking the plastic cover off whilst waiting for your food! Was loving that decor idea!

As for their food...ordered their Half English Breakfast which does fill you up nicely. Was highly recommended to have by my siblings.

Their (two) beef sausages had a nice spice taste to them and was flavourful with every bite.

Their scrambled eggs reminded me of eggs made back home in Bangladesh with onions, tomatoes and spice powders.

The beans had a nice spicy taste to it along with crunchy raw onions and crushed chilli flakes, it reminded me of the chargrilled tomato borta made with crushed fook-moris (charred whole dry chilli flakes).

The hash brown and turkey bacon rashers were of their standard flavour, no spices about them, but I think it went ok with the above mentioned Deshi items that were served on the plate.

Even though it's advertised as "Half English Breakfast", I was thinking it'll be half the typical English breakfast portion size you get served in cafes, but it was similar in portion size to them cafes serve and fills you up nicely. For me next time I will get their two extra sausages for sure.

Will be going there with my family for sure and I think I have finally found a place that my wife will like!

Try this nice little place out and you won't be...

Ate with my mum here today as apart of her birthday treat and it was a very unique experience. Wed travelled down from surrey and I dont think I've been anywhere like this before. We ordered the momlette and eggs Benedict The food was traditional bengali breakfast with a modern twist and lived up to the hype. Decently priced, beautifully presented - I'll be honest I could have eaten double the portion because of how good it was! Ingredients seemed very good quality. I really regret not having the traditional tea.

We enjoyed playing some caram board while we waited. I thought it was so clever how they designed the tables! It wasnt very busy when we did pop in so we weren't rushed. There were customers having a work meeting there so I'd defo say this a versatile spot whether you want to sit and chill or have a chat, etc

Service was brilliant, the young woman serving us was super friendly and helpful. Whilst we were there we couldnt help overhear I believe the manager chatting away to a customer and his passion and the vision behind the place was obvious. The fact it was started by three young men who grew up local and it is a homage to our bengali culture was really nice to hear. The decor and vibes are super cute I wish I'd got some pictures! I loved the little bengali momentos on the shelf it made me think of how everyone had show cases back in the day.

Sorry this is such a long message but thanks for...

Went to this place after seeing it all over social media. Lovely little place with carom boards as tables and iconic pictures of the local area from the 80s/90s. The momlette was our favourite, the flavours were great. Mustard in the paratha is not something you’d think of but it worked really well. The half English breakfast was very tasty with good flavours from the masala beans, hash brown would have been better if could a little longer. The chai is defo the best we’ve had compared to other places. The only reason this got a 4 star review was because of the wait. We were told it would be 20 minutes before being seated due to being busy however we waited nearly 50 minutes. There were a group of six who finished their food and were just chatting away. With it being so cold outside the staff were really good and gave us complimentary tea whilst we waited. The menu states during busy periods table seats are limited to 40 minutes however this group were there well over that time.
