I used to love this road when I was a kid, early seventies, still plenty of nightlife. Dance at the Trafalgar till it closed at 11 on a Saturday night. Walk with my girlfriend and mates to the Tube, get the train home. Of course, it is not like it was, c'est la vie, big cities things never stay the same, that's the point I suppose. As the Tralfamadorian said in Kurt Vonnegut slaughterhouse five, just think about the good times, let the bad times take care of themselves. The road now has all the bells and whistles that speak sophistication, but as Harry Enfield once quipped, 'I've been to Leeds!'. There are a few standout shops, mainly to do with interior design, but on the whole it has slipped into mediocrity.
From Sloane Sq to the Worlds End is a pleasant walk but not at weekends and definitely not on a Sunday when the world and his wife appear to have descended onto the road and trudge past the shops in a hopeless shuffle.
Best to enjoy the road mid week, when you can browse and if you have a dog there are some good pet shops such as I love ❤️ my human.

Every year around this time, the streets may be chaotic and littered, but the flowers somehow soften all the disorder.
The weekly food market at Duke of York Square and Pavilion Road just behind Peter Jones are also worth a visit — both are always buzzing with people. And if you’re in the area, do try the ice cream from Unión — it’s a must, far better than Venchi in my opinion.
