I’ll share an honest review. Overall, the apartment was fine, but there are a few things worth noting before you go. Hopefully, this also helps the staff be a bit more attentive.
Room: The room was big, you can see it in the pictures as well. The furniture felt a little old, but that wasn’t a big deal for me. However, the room wasn’t cleaned properly after the last guest - it felt a bit dirty. The TV remote was in a poor state, the buttons were not pressing properly, the battery backplate was missing. I told the staff, and they said if they found an extra one, they’d replace it. The TV has no Chromecast, if that's a concern for you. The safe had no instructions, so I had to call staff to help me set a password. Turns out you should reset the safe by removing and inserting the batteries back. The door lock is not an easy one, you need to put quite a bit of force to lock it :) There're no sockets right next to bed :(( And the windows don't have a noise suppression, sometimes it can get noisy.
Kitchen: It's A small kitchen right by the entrance. They don’t provide coffee, tea, sugar, or even a couple of light snacks, which was a bit disappointing. You don't usually travel carrying tea/coffee in your bag. Most aparthotels at least offer some basic packs of tea/coffee. There was no tea towel for drying dishes and no dishwasher either. The faucet was leaking a little. But they had cutlery.
Bathroom: The bathroom was great - no real issues. A ventilation system would’ve been nice, but there's a window. An aroma spray wouldn't hurt either.
Other facilities: There's a gym and a laundry room with washers and dryers, which you can use for free. Just remember to bring your own detergent or capsules.
Area: I absolutely loved Chelsea. The neighborhood is beautiful. The Natural History Museum is about a 10-minute walk, the tube is around 8 minutes, and in about 20 minutes you can reach Albert Bridge - stunning at night and very underrated. Walking through Chelsea in the evenings under the streetlights felt like the best meditation.
If the staff pays more attention to these small details, this apartment...
Read moreMy wife and I chose to stay at Roland House for month and a half. Our stay proved very pleasant, in no small part due to Roland House and its staff. I am moved to offer positive feedback on our room, the amenities, and the staff.
First, our room was excellent! The view was magnificent. We were here in winter and found the heating system made the room nice toasty in cold winter London very quickly. Everything was clean and the room is very well planned, with a very efficient use of space. We cooked at home almost everyday and the kitchen proved more than sufficient. The shower pressure is good, and the hot water was always present and reliable. Our room was very quickly felt like a cosy home, and we miss it.
We got to appreciate Roland House for its benefits as well. Aside from the great location (safe South Kensington! with so many great restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries a short walk away), we enjoyed a very complete set of amenities. Their gym was clean and perfect for our needs, and generally we had it to ourselves. The free laundry room always had machines available when we needed to run a load of clothes. The spa room also seems quite new. We really felt like we had our own gym, laundry, and service staff.
My greatest compliments are offered to the staff, who were kind and professional. We had fresh linens delivered to us weekly, and reception helped us with all of our queries very promptly. They even set up the sofa-bed for us when we had guests over for Thanksgiving weekend. Due to the courteousness and service of the staff of Roland House, we felt very welcomed in staying with them.
A special shoutout to Ms Gilbert, who is a great asset to Roland House. She used her years of experience in hospitality management to help us deal with some issues we had while in London. Thanks to her firm hand and direction, we were able to sort through the problem.
Truly, we loved our room, the hotel, and the people who made us feel at home. Thank you for a...
Read moreWe lived at Roland House Apartments for three months (Feb 2022 - May 2022) and had the worst experience of our life. The only good thing about this place was the location - it is close to the Gloucester Road and South Kensington tube stations. Otherwise there is just too many things wrong with this place!
The flat was furnished but the furniture and the cooking utensils were of substandard quality. I expected better quality for the price paid. The lamps were not working because there were no bulbs in the lamps! The water pressure in the shower was low and the water was not hot enough. There was also leakage in the room twice (I had to call reception to get it fixed).
The staff were very rude. They need some serious customer service training to learn how to talk to customers.
The rooms are accessed using the access card. The access card system stopped working for a few days so the door had to be opened by a staff member using the master key. This was a hassle. In the end, they asked me to move to another room!
I had cash in the room which got stolen. There was no forced entry into the room so it would have to be a staff member with access to the room. Apart from lodging a police complaint, I raised this with the building manager but he refused to investigate, help me gather evidence or take responsibility for what had happened. I could not move out due to the contract.
Fresh towels and linen are provided weekly. These did not arrive on time. When they were delivered, they had certain things missing. The pillow cases and the duvet were also torn many times.
The internet hardly ever worked so I wouldn't recommend relying on it.
Overall, the customer service was terrible, the quality of the flat and the furniture was below average, and the place was not secure. I would suggest that you choose another place to stay! You'd rather travel a little longer than have your money stolen and...
