We visited Fish Restaurant for dinner after an afternoon of shopping at Borough Market. The restaurant was not busy so we were able to get a table for 4 without any issues. I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and wanted to share the experience with my party. Fish follow the current Tier 2 restrictions with reference to same households and Social Bubbles. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. For starters we ordered the Sourdough bread and Anchovies as well as the Soup. Both dishes were very good especially the Anchovies which I highly recommend. For our mains we ordered the Soft shell fish which was battered and served with chips. We also ordered the Battered Haddock served with chips and Tartare sauce which was very good. Our final main was the Fish Pie and a side dish of Samphire, the fish pie was not up to the usual high standard consisting mainly of mash potato with very little fish and vegetables. This we raised with our waitress who took our complaint to the Manager. The Manager and staff were all very helpful and offered to replace the dish with something else from the menu. The offer was declined as we were pressed for time however they were kind enough to remove the cost of the fish pie from our bill. Great service indeed and my thanks to the waiting staff and management team at Fish. For dessert we ordered the Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which came in generous portions and was very good, we also had the Cream Brulee and the Apple Crumble with Custard which was also very good. I would certainly recommend all the desserts. The meal was accompanied by a very nice bottle of Gavi Di Gavi. All in all we had a great time and a good meal. The waiting staff must be commended for their helpfulness, friendliness and overall good service. We shall certainly be...

It’s such a shame! My mother and I have been coming to this restaurant for over ten years but it’s gone downhill now. The size of the cod portion was pathetic at £23.50. When I complained to the manager about the size he simply shrugged his shoulders without a care in the world and said they are all the same size. He did nothing to make it right.
All the waiters were low energy, unmotivated and slow. At first I was asked 3 times in 10 minutes if I wanted to order a drink while I was waiting for my family to arrive. Then when I needed some help to order no one was around for 5 minutes. I had to ask two different waiters for tap water before it eventually arrived. When I asked for three dessert spoons I was given three table spoons so I had to get up and walk over and grab the cutlery myself. I asked a waiter to take a photo of us and it felt like I was asking the biggest favour in the world.
The manager was doing nothing to manage nor motivate his staff, instead he was standing aimlessly on the restaurant floor doing nothing.
They charged us £3 for ‘filtered water’ 😂 when I order tap water I would expect it to be filtered… 🙄
It’s a nice vibe in terms of layout and decoration but everything else has sadly gone south now.
I have cod and chips quite often and I have to say this one was one of the most disappointing all round.
Having said all that, they were good about the dog I must say. They allowed him into the outside eating area and gave us a bowel of water for him which was much appreciated.
If the waiters were a bit happier and more helpful and the portion sizes were less stingy it would have been a...
Read moreTried the take-out fish and chips after joining a massive queue. As I was in the queue and can smell the fishiness already (not a good sign), after paying £25 for fish and chips and a portion of squid I was not impressed (more like depressed). In fact it was some of the worse fish and chips ever. Chip were ok but portions are very tight. The fish was the worse part, very soggy and tasteless. Soggy batter is normally a result of overused oil where its lost it's ability to fry properly or the wrong temperature. Judging by the queue I wouldn't be surprised if the fryer was over crowded by dumping too much fish in there at the same time.
I feel sorry for the tourist who try this thinking this was good or ok. It's terrible when in a place like this they failed so badly to represent a national dish. The worse part is when people try this they might say to others how disgusting fish and chips is, tarnishing all the other good places that still serving excellent food.
Any tourist reading this should note that Fish and Chips is actually a very cheap meal don't get ripped off here, I tried it because they displayed a sign saying "Proud Winners at the National Fish and Chips Awards" I think these so-called awards are fake and instead is a form of paid advertisement.
The only place I won't go back to if I visit Borough Market again. There must be tourists who have tried this place and sat there thinking the food wasn't that good and you'll be right. Don't let the location, the name, awards or the setting sway you. These guys don't deserve a place in Borough Market if I'm honest. The take-out food is an...
