Our recent dining experience at Meekhun Thai Bistro was unfortunately disappointing. The service was notably lacking. The staff, including the manager and waiter, exhibited an unprofessional and dismissive attitude. They struggled to accurately record orders and seemed to resent our attempts to clarify them. Furthermore, we felt uncomfortable with the staff's constant and somewhat intrusive observation while we were eating.
The quality of the food was also underwhelming. The starters platter appeared to be microwaved from frozen, resulting in a soggy and unappetizing texture. The fried items were particularly disappointing, lacking crispiness and possessing an unpleasant cardboard-like flavor. While the soups were decent, they were not particularly memorable.
Additionally, we were charged £1 for hot water, which was not even filtered, a seemingly exorbitant and unnecessary charge. We also found it disconcerting that the menu was removed from our table immediately after we ordered our starters, ostensibly to "keep the table clean," despite the tables not appearing particularly clean to begin with.
The Thai milk tea was far from authentic and tasted more like a powdered beverage than a traditionally prepared drink.
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday at 12:30, and the lack of other diners (0) at that time unfortunately reinforced our overall negative impression of the...
Read moreMy mouth just experienced the spiciest symphony in its existence so far. I was recommended the shredded duck, and noticed that it had a spiciness level of 2 chillis according to the menu (I'd usually go for between 0 and 0.5 chillis as per the EU standardised chilli icon in restaurant menus to actual spiciness scale). I made this clear and was told that they could make it less spicy, which was great (my receipt actually has a 'less spicy' addition to the duck so there is a full audit trail), and left my tastebuds feeling relaxing and ready to kick their feet up as if they'd just come back from a battle although in reality, it was just about to begin. My friend ordered the lamb shank which I tried on multiple occasions and have to say it was heavenly, almost like eating silk were it possible (it actually is but I wouldn't recommend it). The shredded duck itself had a lot of flavour (I think?) although I was mostly contemplating my life choices, asking for water refills, as well as mentally drafting up my will were it required after the meal. Overall, if you adore spice and want to know what it feels like to taste the surface of the sun, go for the shredded duck. For the best meal of your life, go for the lamb shank. For everything else,...
Read moreI love Thai food, and this restaurant has been a wonderful surprise! Loved it!!
Three of us went for a lunch catch up social, and had booked some 2 weeks in advance, and got the best table in the house, and note this is a very small bistro!
First great thing, the list of choices is so long, and you can go a la carte, or set-menu. We went for the latter, 3-course - which turned out to be the best choice!
I had the teriaki skewers for starter, it came really quick, and had this peanut sauce that was dreamy! My friend had a soup, and gave me a taste, it was so good! I may ask for soup next time!
My main was the low-risk green curry, which i asked very mild, and so it came! Absolutely Gorgeous green curry!!!
my friends were more adventurous, and had all the kick of strong Thai spices in theirs!
For dessert, I asked for this Thai Tea icecream, as my other friend had ordered Thai Tea as a drink, and it was a little like a milk shake, and she gave me a taste, so I decided to go for the icecream! Best decision! Thai Tea icecream is the best icecream I tasted! ^_^
This Bistro in Gloucester Road/South Kensington is a gem! Will definitely be coming back for more,...
