Cabaret Tehran — Local services in Manchester

I've always enjoyed this place - however when I arrived, I learnt that the management had changed, I hadn't had high hopes.

We arrived for the entertainment night - which we have been to many times before.I was accompanied with 5 other Asian males. After waiting 20minutes for seating ( the cafe was empty), we were given seats near the windows, which were the worse seating In the cafe.Only to learn that the better seats were given to other walk ins - who were either Iranian or Middle eastern.

The DJ only paid Iranian music, bar 1 or two arabic song. Laura the belly dancer was fantastic as always. Shisha was below par - I'd say 3/10. The Shisha man (Sayed) and waitress were very nice, however clearly over worked and without help.

It took 20 or so minutes to get the bill. When we eventually got the the bill - I was shocked to see that we were charged a mandatory service charge of £5 per person, this amounted to £30. FYI - the bill minus the service charge was £40. To reiterate, the service charge was NOT optional.

From speaking with other guests, guest who spoke the native tongue of staff/owner, I learnt they were NOT charged a service charge.

Moral of the story is:- if you speak the language of staff, you should visit.

If you don't- Unless you wish to pay a mandatory service charge for a substandard service and you wish to promote discrimination, than do attend.

Disgusting service, ruined the night out for 12 NHS workers by not providing us with any drinks or food for over an hour - even though we had booked a table and told them when we wanted to eat by. When we complained, they said that they would try to get to us in another half an hour, but still nothing, not even drinks.
