My favourite restaurant on the Curry Mile. Never a queue, quick, efficient and pleasant staff. We were served last night by a delightful waitress, who went out of her way to attend to us in a very pleasant and personal manner. The food is fresh, tastes amazing and they always serve a soup as a starter, which is a nice touch. The prices are reasonable (£42 for a big tray of mixed meat, bread and rice for 4, plus a couple of salad and dips, and 7 drinks!), the plates or family trays are copiously served. My go-to place for a good time with friends and family. No loud music so you can talk comfortably (although I wouldn't mind low-level traditional music in the background for a more Turkish ambiance), enticing pictures of touristic places in Turkey on the wall to make you dream... Highly recommended, I can't wait for another occasion to go! Note: toilets on top (2nd floor with slightly steep stairs, some people with very reduced mobility may struggle) - cash only - help-yourself cutlery and sauce trays, so don't expect a higher end restaurant treatment. Prayer mat available on first floor, qibla is at a sight angle to the left facing the back of the restaurant. I miss the top floor with the seating area on soft cushions on the floor. It's now locked and we didn't ask if it was now a prayer area, as we prayed between the tables at the back end of the first floor, since it was very quiet. (No music and closed top floor are the reasons for not putting 5 stars but if you don't expect those things then...
Read moreWent in with no recommendation, but just that the menu looked good. First of all the staff served me with a smile. Ordered the Qabuli Pulao and Lahmacun. I was handed a huge takeout bag which was still hot after a long drive home. My family was not disappointed. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. Portions were big.
The pulao was cooked beautifully and not excessively spiced, it was just as it should be. There was a lot of tender meat for one portion, and the quality of the rice was top class. The lahmacun was delicious and loved by my young children as it was soft and again full of flavour. It came with two types of shop made sauces - chilli, and mint yogurt.
The restaurant also surprised us with a free tub of some type of stew. I wish I knew what it was because I would’ve ordered a whole pot full, it was so good. The food is worth more than what we paid. Definitely going back here, I highly recommend it. This restaurant is a gem when you feel like you’re spoilt for choice on...
Read moreFirst time here and I took my 8 year old daughter. Go in, order food, wait at your chosen table and it's served to you as soon as it's cooked. Let's be realistic: it's a fast food restaurant, so expecting Salt Bae type panache is unreasonable. The food was very good- simple, delicately flavoursome and great portions for the price. My daughter is exceptionally picky when it comes to food (think lobster, scallops, aged steaks etc as well as the expected Spag' Bol'), but she was full of praise, declaring it: 'one of the best meals I've ever had!'. We were served free soups whilst we waited and the server was attentive to the little one and also explained there to be free takeaway boxes, cutlery and serviettes at our disposal nearby. I also thoroughly enjoyed my chicken kebab and Qabilli Palau(?). I am now instructed to visit this place more regularly (as per the demands of little...
