Waterstones — Local services in Milton Keynes

It's a great experience being able to pop into a Waterstones and browse a book of your fancies, something the internet-as yet- can't replicate. Flicking through pages, checking the shelves, is all part of the process. I say this because I wonder how long we'll be able to do this for, with the threat of our high streets closing down. I enjoy supporting my local Waterstones, but buying books is probably not as environmentally friendly as I would like to be.. Sadly Milton Keynes Waterstones is getting a little tatty and rundown and they don't serve Gluten Free cake in the coffee area, but on the plus I received great recommendations from a couple of the team which was really helpful. The cafe here is particularly good, they have a good range of hot and cold drinks that are made to a high standard. They also sell cakes and other treats, in which many are vegan and they gluten free, they are also made by local businesses.

The cafe has a good atmosphere and comfortable seating, they also do not play 'drink your coffee and leave quickly' music, hence it is a perfect setting for passing an afternoon with a book.

The customer service here is one of the best I have experienced, the staff are chatty, friendly, knowledgeable of any dietary requirements you may have and sometimes recommended books you may like.

With a wide variety and range of books and genres to pick from, you can pretty much find the book you're looking for just by heading for the right area that your book or book genre you're looking for. And if you can't find it in one store, you can always find it in another, or online, so there's no real rush to get the books you need!

Some genres are hard to find however, but they can be in a place at other stores that are a bit more obvious or online anyway, so there's no reason to feel disappointed if you don't find it right away.
