Christmas shopping with my son, he is a student in Newcastle and he’s been to this restaurant a few times, loving it. Quiet Monday afternoon - maybe 3 tables are occupied. The menu is lovely, average priced Lebanese Food and it arrived within five minutes of ordering. I liked you could see the kitchen and the grill! Lovely chicken shawarma wrap and a mix meat grill - The food was hot and fresh and really delicious. This is a good place to go with friends as they sell lovely Sharing platters. though £3 for a can of Coke is a bit steep! Because it was quiet, I was quite surprised when staff seemed eager to get us out of there quickly. Waitress tried to take our plates before we had finished and had literally paused to chat. Someone else then came and took our glasses away and I still had a quarter of my drink left- had to ask for it back! When we had eventually finished and sat back, someone appeared with the card machine and the bill which we had not yet ask for! Overall, we had five different people coming to our table and there was no seemingly no organisation and no one in particular assigned to our table. (Ie asked twice what we wanted to order then after we had paid, we were asked by yet another person if we wanted to pay cash or card!) a bit of organisation would go a long way here and I personally felt rushed. Overall the food makes this place, I think the staff are young and just need organising better. Sadly, I wouldn’t say anyone was particularly friendly either and when we left, I said Thankyou to three staff standing chatting at the entrance and was ignored! Not even a smile! Two cans of Coke, a chicken wrap and lamb/chicken with chips £37. My son may love it and I agree that the food is really nice, but customer service wise, it left a lot to be desired. They should take a visit to TGI further along and learn a...
Read moreI recently ordered lunch from Bake Eldon Square at work, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Despite the enticing buy one get one free offer, the delayed delivery and lackluster quality of the food left me with a less than satisfactory meal.
To begin with, the delivery was an hour late, which was inconvenient considering I had ordered the food for my lunch break. The tardiness set the tone for the overall experience, and unfortunately, things did not improve upon opening the package.
I opted for the chicken shawarma and chips, a classic combination that one would expect to be executed well. However, the reality fell far short of expectations. The chips were disappointingly cold, as if they had been sitting around for a while, and they tasted more like scraps than the crispy, flavorful side one would hope for. It was a letdown to say the least.
The real disappointment, however, came with the chicken shawarma. Instead of the savory, well-seasoned shawarma one anticipates, the chicken had a distinct flavor reminiscent of leftover poultry from the night before. Not only was it dry, but it also exhibited a burnt taste that indicated a lack of attention to detail in the cooking process. This was a far cry from the quality one would expect, especially when paying for a meal, even with a promotional offer.
While I appreciate the attempt to attract customers with a buy one get one free deal, it should not come at the expense of the food's quality. Customers deserve a satisfying dining experience regardless of promotional offers. In this case, the subpar delivery time and disappointing taste of both the chips and chicken shawarma left me with a regrettable lunch experience from Bake Eldon Square. I hope the establishment takes this feedback constructively to improve their service and maintain the trust of...
