Was great before, is now even better!!!!

We ordered 5 main dishes (Satay Chicken, Beef curry, mixed meat chow mein, chicken chow mein and BBQ roast pork on egg fried rice), plus chicken balls and mini spring rolls. We were informed that the Silver Bird had changed owners and that they have a new chef. Guys, keep hold of that guy! That man can cook! The place was great before, but it's now even better. The previous chef will be back, too, so they will have a really talented team together. The Satay Chicken dish was just yummy, slightly spicy and lovely peanutty. Both chow meins were delicious, the mix meat now also had duck in it, in addition to the usual beef, chicken and King prawn. I did miss the water chestnut, but that's just a minor point and didn't take away from the lovely dish. Hubby had the beef curry and absolutely loved it. He's 47 and his parents had always ordered from Silver Bird and we carried that tradition on. His go to dish was always the beef curry and he said that it was even nicer this time. My youngest had the BBQ pork. He usually doesn't like Chinese food, but he's converted (yay 😁). He already has his eye on another dish for our next order. We were a bit surprised when the chicken balls turned out to be battered chicken filets, but who cares about the shape, anyway? We don't and they're easier to eat that way. The Sweet and sour sauce was delicious and I could have eaten it with a spoon. You definitely tasted that it was homemade and it was a lovely change to the gloopy shop bought sauce that usually comes with the order. As a family of chefs we love food and recognise the methods involved to create dishes and notice changes immediately, which, admittedly, can also make us hard to please. Ordered directly through silver bird website and an hour later still no food, assuming delayed I called to double check and they had no order for us, this was 5mins before the restaurant closed, they asked to call me back whilst they looked into it, I didnt hold much hope until they called me back and said the order was found and would be out within 20mins and roughly 15mins later it turned up, the delivery driver was very apologetic and between the restaurant and delivery driver they gave us some complimentary items for the mix up which was appriciated and on further positive news the food was also really nice, so thanks silver bird for a wonderful meal if a...

Best chinese takeaway in plymouth started going direct to them as it's about 15-20% cheaper then just-eat. Use to be my childhood takeaway aswell, after moving back to the area I couldn't wait to come back here. And they never disappoint.

Would be a 5 star 🌟 but with our last order we found out they have stopped doing mine and my daughters favorite dish 😥😱😭(smoked shredded chicken)
