One of the best pubs i have been to in a long while! Lovely old watermill building backing onto a garden with a stream running through it (obviously as it's an old watermill). The staff are so friendly relaxed and down to earth - all you could want from a pub! The atmosphere waa brilliant. The inside of the pub is a classic wooden interior with wooden wheels from the old mill building on the wall, along with other memorabilia. There is a glass window indoors to look through to the old waterwheel that eas powered by the running water. There are wooden beams and a snooker table upstairs. As it was a sunny day we sat outside at the back where there is a big beer garden next to the running water. The people in the garden were so relaxed and nice but this was because of the nice atmosphere that filtered down from the staff. The serving people were SO nice and friendly. Running a good really is no more complicated than creating a nice warm atmosphere in a nice place. But many pubs around have so much trouble doing this. This one got it spot on and were not afraid of being themselves - a true english country pub.

I want to start by saying that the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, after calling ahead about gluten free options they gave us a 'menu' torn form a note pad and written in pen and sharpie. If we had not been fortunate to open the menu or have another member of staff passing by tell us, we would not have known that the food was cooked in the same fryer as the bread/batter etc. So it was gluten free other than being cooked with gluten. We tried to make the best of it and avoided the fryer but the food was not great. I had spaghetti meatballs which turned out to be quite spicy and my wife had gf carbonara with gloopy pasta and gristle bits in. We cut our losses and left. If you are just having a drink, im sure friendly staff can accommodate you but would not recommend eating there.

Absolutely brilliant. Peter and his team went out of their way to ensure we were all looked after following my mother's funeral. Due to the time of the funeral, The Town Mills would have finished serving food but Peter arranged a special 2 course Sunday lunch menu for the 12 of us. The food was outstanding as was the service we received from his team and we will certainly be revisiting at some time in the near future. I would like to express my extreme gratitude to all at The Town Mills for making a sad day end on a high..

so it takes a lot to get a review out of me a place has to be exceptionally good or in this case down right appalling. Twas a busy Sunday in Andover and all food establishments we visited before trying out Town mills were fully booked and had no space for a table of four. we called Town Mills in advance and they said we could pop in for food the first red flag should have been when we walked in and the place was completely empty. we mulled over the menu and decided to order, on the menu it states 'some dishes can be adapted gluten free' as I am a celiac I decided to go to the bar and ask which menu items can be adapted to which i was pointed in the direction of a blue allergen binder on the bar which frankly did not make any sense, basically everything in the binder was ticked for containing gluten even things like a 8oz steak. even more confusing is the beefburger stated it had gluten in it but underneath there was a option for a GF bun, so I asked 'what can I have the GF bun with if the actual burger has gluten in it' he went to the kitchen and came back and said we can do that for you, I was very skeptical but also very hungry.. I regrettably ordered it with a side of curry sauce I also dont think the curry sauce was gluten free but it was definitely not ticked in the allergen binder. we waited for about 20 mins for our food to arrive and when it hit the table I couldn't help but audibly laugh at the state of it, it made Wetherspoons look like fine dining.. one of my friends ordered a 'Giant hot dog' what came to the table was an anemic looking baguette cut in half, not sauced, not buttered nothing about it looked even remotely appetizing with two small cheap breakfast sausages which had been deep fried just sat inside it. everything is evidently fried in the same fryer, everything tasted the same just old frying oil.

to add insult to injury my worries about the gluten turned out to be correct and I am now nursing a reaction! we also paid £80 for this privilege for ingredients that could not have cost more than £2 all together... truly truly awful.. places like this just should not offer food. I am sure its a okay bar to...

Very very disappointed! Booked what looked like a nice pub with a good menu for my daughter's birthday. She recently moved to Andover from Southampton. I booked the week before for a Saturday evening for seven people. I received a prompt text confirmation all good so far. When we arrived the place looked very nice. We easily found our own table made up for 6, no problem we just added another chair. Shortly after sitting we were advised they have other bookings so we should order as soon as possible to avoid delays. We were still waiting for two of our party to arrive. Then we got to the menu. Well I have to say I have seen more variety on a McDonald's menu. We were then told the has a limited menu on Saturdays because they basically cannot cope. If only that has been mentioned on the confirmation email. We simply would have gone elsewhere. But we made the best of it and ate meals we didn't particularly want which were at best edible. Nothing to write home about. Once we had finished we went to order dessert bearing in mind is is now about 8.30 only to be told by a slightly flustered barman that he would need to check with the kitchen as they were closing. He dashed back as said it ok. So we're ordered. The desserts were the basically thrown in front of us with no spoons, which after requesting were thrust towards us. The staff were not impolite but you could tell they were under pressure and only just about coping . All in all the pub setting is beautiful and the only thing that saved our evening from being spoiled was the two pool tables as we were able to play a few rounds and make it a fun family evening. Definitely not worth the...

Really disappointed with this. The location is spectacular, right beside the river if you're lucky enough to eat outside, dated and dull if you're sitting inside.

The Riverside Café was bizarrely closed, so we ate here on a whim and we won't be back.

Over £6 for two bottles of Diet Coke and £28 for a bacon cheeseburger and fries, tuna baguette and fries, and a cheesy garlic ciabatta.

The burger was a single 6oz patty and when I asked if I could add a second, I was shocked to hear it was £4 and clearly made up on the spot as there was no option to add a patty in the till. It was overcooked and dry, it tasted like a precooked patty that had been warmed up in an oven, rather than freshly cooked on a griddle or plancha. The cold bun just fell to pieces and had no integrity at all so I ate most of the burger without a bun. The bacon was great, first place in ages to actually serve crispy bacon and not a soggy strip. The baguette was basic, you can't go too wrong with a tuna mayo and red onion baguette, but it would have been nice for the red onion to be mixed into the tuna mayo so you get a little bit in every bite, and not just sprinkled on top. The fries were awful, tasted of very little, woefully undercooked so had no crunch to them at all, and the onion rings served with the burger were frankly disgusting. The batter had no flavour at all and was soggy, there was no seasoning, and they tasted of watery onions.

At half the price you could forgive this, because you're getting what you pay for, but at these prices: 15 for a burger, you need to make it great and it was not.

First and last...
