Absolutely disgusting customer service from manager, she has no people skills what so ever and made us feel very uncomfortable eating our food. We came with our two children who wanted chicken balls and chips which we were told you have to pay extra - it does not state this anywhere on menus. Then we ordered our starters - they came very quickly so we ordered our mains - chicken, chow mein x2, rice x2 a beef dish and duck. The food came very quickly again but no chow mein, we asked after a few mins and was told it’s coming. My son who was absolutely starving due to not having chicken balls wanted another portion of duck so we asked for this. The manager looked over our table as if to say we had enough. Ten mins passed and we still had no chow mein or extra duck so we asked again and manager came over - she had a scowl on her face with an attitude and said ‘when you finish this food first we’ll bring the next portion’ (my son had finished the first duck!) we were very confused and said we’d like our chow mein now. To which she said ‘you pay for what you don’t eat’ insinuating we already had too much and wouldn’t eat it! We said no we’d like our chow mein pls to go with our rice etc and other food! It’s part of the meal! She continued to argue and said a further 2/3 times you eat this lot first then we bring the rest. We said we want it now as the children are hungry and we will eat it all. Then we felt very uncomfortable for the rest of the meal as she kept looking over and checking the table. When we asked for the bill we told the staff about how we felt and she just smiled - then the manager came over and inspected the table picked up a plate and said ‘this is finished?’ As if to say we hadn’t finished it. We had in fact finished almost everything bar a spring roll or 2 the children hadn’t liked! They then tried to add on over £8 service charge which I asked to be taken off. The manager needs a very good training lesson is customer services and how to speak to people she is letting your restaurant down going by all the other...
Read moreI went to cafe de china today on Saturday the 26th of August and overall the experience was awful the service was appalling. we were in there for 30 mins until we had to ask the waitress for drinks then when we did she said she would get someone to help us which they didn't then came the food for starters it was most difficult to order food as the waitresses didn't speak much English and were getting frustrated with us for them not being able to understand us speaking English in England if you can't speak the language then get someone who can to take the orders!! then i had to order my food 3 times until it actually came out and when it did it was undercooked and cold.. we were out for my little brothers 8th birthday and when we asked to pay for a child the waitress told us that my brother wasn't 8 and that we couldn't prove he was 8 do she charged us for an adult price when all he ate was one little plate of noodles and some prawn crackers they were also very under staffed and of one of the 3 working was a woman who it was her first day not nearly enough people or training for the turnout they had also when we finally left and I asked to speak to the manager about my experience there I found out that the woman who was speaking to us most rudly the whole night was the manager we were not the only ones with complaints either throughout the night we heard others who were complaining that they had not received food and complaints about the service. all in all an absolutely atrocious night that I will not get back neither will I get back the £188 bill which they wouldn't explain why it was so high and wouldn't let us leave until we paid the over due amount ! I will not ever be going again and I strongly advise no others...

Do not go here on a Friday or Weekend. They over charge you for a "buffet". We went in a group of 14. The service (if you can call it that) was virtually none excistent. They would take your tables order and then take it upon themselves to merge the order together. I.e. 3 people ordered duck on our table, 15 minutes later, only one serving of duck would come out and no more to be seen for the rest of the night..
Then when asked where the other portions are, they would just reply with 'yes' and then walk away... Then shortly someone else would come back asking for your main order which they rush taking and do not ask for everyone's order and steam off to another table. When asked to add to the order (for the people they missed), they write it down and literally put that bit of paper straight in the bin, as witnessed by 3 people. Shocking behaviour. Then they get weirded out when asked why the food hasn't come out with everyone else's main. Of course the food quality is poor. Il'd struggle to hand out the satay chickens to the homeless chaps across the road.
You would be better off saving your chips and going to a decent Chinese and just spending your money on proper food and decent service.
Ive had 2 experiences of this and thought i'ld give them the benefit of the doubt this time. Mistakes have been made and lessons have been learnt. Never going to waste another penny in here and hope you don't make the same mistake as I did and walk up those stairs into this black...
