Where to start, the takeaway prices vary to indoor seating. The crucial question is do they use fresh oil everyday? The answer is yes as you can taste the chips and other fried items freshness. We were a group of 30+ with many children and teens. They brought out the food quickly and the fish was of course freshly cooked There was many seat so it can easily hold a hundred customers. The staff were still friendly through the mini rush and no mistakes in delivery of the many plates. Now let's get to the prices. Yes of course it's a seasonal spot and they need to cover as much as possible to pay the bills during the quiet months ahead BUT I cannot see justification in charging £4.50 for a small plate of chips that couldn't be more than 2 potatoes, ok I will be generous and say 3 potatoes. The chicken burgers were the same size as 2oz burger with a quarter pounder bun which had no flavour and bland and the price was i would say £3 over priced. The fish was i will say was not oily which is a great plus but folks seriously add the lemon and dont wait for the customers to come and ask for some. I only gave 3stars for the over priced items I have read the comments posted and have to say, I never saw any rudness or any other staff member be unprofessional. So folks if your ever in margate then it's your choice to visit this small family run restaurant. If the BEANO just dropped the prices a tad and a slight decoration and snaze it up a touch then maybe they would be as busy as the other fish & chips restaurants there along...
Read moreOn a family visit to Margate we stumbled across this cafe looking for some lunch. We were greeted with a 'hello', but that's where the pleasantries ended.
I verbally relayed our order whilst my daughter popped to the toilet. 2x medium cod & chips 1x kids fish & chips 1x just cod (no chips) 1x orange juice 1x diet coke
Total £47.50!!!!!!
Just as I was about to hand over the cash, I questioned the cost. It was only at this stage that I was informed there is no kids option, or portions of fish available to purchase on their own. I politely said 'thank you, I think we'll go somewhere else'. It was at that point we were charged £1 for my daughter's use of the toilet.
I'm writing this sitting at a much more pleasant eatery just around the corner, and as I've now had time to read other past reviews of the Beano cafe, I'm feeling happier that it only cost us £1 to...

We had to then ask for cutlery, I was suspicious of my pie as it definitely was not a pukka pie and when I cut it open it was hard in the middle , not seeing any steam I put my finger in there and it was frozen ! I gave it back and opted for sausage and chips but had to ask for our money back for the price difference, I'm glad I didn't put any in my mouth ! We won't...
